He was always better on the left, and cutting into the middle with some freedom when the opportunity is there. That's why I think that if Ronaldo really does move on this summer it could be the best thing for Madrid in the short and long term though I'm not sure if they really have anyone that is really comfortable on the right or not (James?)

Ronaldo offers nothing in open play now days. It is almost like playing with 10 men. Benzema and Bale were superb today yet we were poor in attack. CR needs to go, dragging the team back one mid instead of CR will do a world of good.

I've just watched some matches from the 02-03 season. Goddammit the football we played that season was orgasmic. Figo and Zidane's connection was fantastic to watch. They don't make them like before tbh. That team was pure art, flair and intelligence.

I doubt Rafa will play like this against the tougher teams. The Barca and Villarreal losses have hopefully taught him a lesson

so not really seeing how this season can finish on high note, unless the players ignore him and go back to playing how carlo instructed, which seems highly unlikely.

People can make excuse for Rafa how he is pressured and all but this is ridiculous.. It's not like he is changing it either. He is going to get sacked soon if he play like this.

Back in the day it was Perez unbalancing the squad and coaches were forced to play what ever they have, barely had quality DMs and CMs.. Now we have DM, have CMs, No 10s, Winger, everything yet Rafa plays the price tag 11.

it doesn't matter what 11 he picks if that the shape, attacking like that is rubbish and to transition that from into a defensive shape, makes the already fragile defense even more exposed, to counters or being overwhelmed in midfield for long periods or the whole game.

what he is trying to do, seems like a watered down version of mou quick counter system, without any shape or build up :facepalm:

, all he had to do is continue what carlo was doing and rotate, instead he plays genius to get the players and the fans hate him equally Laughing

, don't care how many games he wins he sucks, until he stops this crappy scheme, I feel like just watching highlights tbh.

Forget about who's playing, Rafa's got his tactics wrong and he's stubbornly sticking to them. You could change the entire starting eleven and we'd still lose with this ridiculous 4-1-5.

I agree with the statements about Benitez's failed tactics and also it doesn't really matter who starts. But the problem will not get better with another coaching change (with better tactics) as long as Perez continues. When and if they sell Ronaldo, he will just bring in another perceived galactico and we will continue to play a formation without the use of AMs. As long as they try the 3 forwards, that are vastly inferior to Barca's front three, we have no hope.

The time has come for Flo to recognize his short comings, either give up the presidency or hand over futbol responsibilities to competent people.

We have talent in all areas of the field, it's just that we don't play the best tactics for the talent we have, particularly in regards to AMs.

The best thing that could happen, if Perez would finally see the light of day would be to get rid of the entire BBC, thoroughly assess our needs and what tactics are best, get a coach that will best suit this change in tactics, and sign based on team needs not any more "marketing" purchases. ...... but we know none of that will happen!!

I disagree. A true tactician would work wonders with this squad. And it's not like Rafa has to reinvent the wheel, he could simply copy-paste Carlo's blueprints, albeit with more rotation. But I guess his ego is getting in the way.
