That really depends on what you're looking for in a movie though.

The Revenant trash? Laughing get outta here lmao

Would personally pick it over Spotlight, although Spotlight was great. Might have to give the edge to Mad Max though for best picture, although the Oscars won't.

Apparently the academy is going to double their minority numbers and females by 2020. I can't say it's a bad decision but I'm annoyed that it's come out of all of this protest of an event which isn't and shouldn't be responsible for equity in their nominations.

They are doing what they should be doing. Setting an example for a subliminal racist business. It's the only to tackle it. Even though it's not really their problem but the studios'.

I loved The Revenant. But Im fully behind Spotlight winning Best Picture.

My top 3 for 2015: Spotlight, Sicario, The Revenant.

How about a great story with some you know, dialogue going on. It was the most basic revenge movie I have ever watched.

Maybe read a book if you only want plot and dialogue. Visuals and great directing can make a basic story great.

And Boyhood was, plotwise, the most basic coming of age story ever. Because that's all it was, a kid growing up. Yet Boyhood was a great film.

It's based on true events, what did you want them to do, completely ignore the facts and make the movie entirely fiction?

You can have a problem with the plot, that's fair, but acknowledge that a film is so much more than the plot itself. To me, the direction, the acting, the pacing, and the cinematography were so brilliant, it carried what was a basic revenge story and made it so much more, and that to me was what was so amazing about the Revenant. Really fantastic movie. If those aspects didn't do it for you either then you can have that opinion but you're in the minority and most would argue that it's a very good film...to call it trash, lol gtfo

@Freeza, you're right, I just never really was able to get behind those against the Oscars, when they're not the ones responsible. They're reacting well though and setting an example, you're right.

Honestly if I was running a big studio and someone brought that story to me I would tell them to go *bleep* themselves Laughing

Also, I didn't see a lot of opportunities for great acting.. Great visuals, nothing more :coffee:

You'd be the most retarded studio owner ever then. Turning down the Oscar winning director's script starring Leonardo and Tom Hardy. Yeah turn that down.

Well then it's a good thing you don't run a big studio, or any studio for that matter.

TBH I just want Spotlight to win Best Screenplay and that's all.

Personally think Fassbender in Steve Jobs was better than Leo in The Revenant, but meh, don't care so much.

Best Supporting Actor seems to be "the most contested" award. So far Stallone, Elba and Mark Rylance have gotten recognition. Although just saw again Elba didn't make the Oscar noms Laughing
