"Zayn is getting nowhere"
Yet again MT pushing what he wants to believe as fact.

He's not going to get anywhere simply coming out smiling and wrestling week after week.
Pretty sure most people will agree he needs to develop a character.

How can you say call up of Corbin has worked so far and Zayn's has not? Zayn has done much better than Corbin so far and is 10x more over than him with any crowd lol.
Also pretty sure the Balor rumors are fake. And actually he ahs done great work at NXT, his run has not been like Cena at all. He never got booed any time by the crowd and him winning the title felt natural, he was the most over face at the time he won the title.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 26
I just think Corbin has had a more purposeful run compared to Zayn. He went straight after Ziggler and he's building heat. He's made more of an impact and sent a clear message.
Zayn on the other hand has just floated about since his debut and his rivalry with Owens hasn't really been all that serious. I mean they only just showed the backstory for it last week.
Corbin's just basically been booked better.

Zayn is in a feud with KO lol. How is he going nowhere?
Never seen Balor but do people in NXT/NJPW like his promos in Irish accent? Would have thought that would be hard to get over with.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 26
Zayn has been great lol, he's probably on the 2nd highest match at the PPV tonight (or 3rd depending on your viewpoint)
I am surprised though tbf, I did think they would bury him but that clearly hasn't been the case. Corbin on the other hand is on a meaningless jobber feud with Ziggler lol.

What I meant by that is how his matches have been booked, it's true that he was over when he won the title. I think the crowd have more leaned towards Joe in the last couple of months though.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 26
Zayn's feud with Owens only just kicked off properly last week. For the most part all he's done is come out smiling and wrestle.
You look at Enzo and Cass and how they're so over. It's because they're larger than life entertainers. The audience connects with them. They're unique.
Just coming out to wrestle in meaningless matches isn't enough imo. Which is basically the problem with a lot of guys nowadays. They expect to get over purely by wrestling. The unique characters are gone.

The audience *bleep* sings his theme tune when he comes out ffs
For the millionth time you don't need amazing mic skills to connect with the crowd, there's plenty of different ways to connect with the crowd.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 26
I'm talking mainly about his character. Other than wrestling ability, what else does he offer (entrance theme doesn't count imo) that'll allow him to connect with the audience?
All I see right now is a happy go lucky generic face. 99% can confidently say if he was WWE homegrown smarks would boo him.
It's not just him though. Apollo Crews is in the same boat.

I remember back in 2011 eagerly anticipating RAW each week just to listen to what Punk had to say. One of the greatest ever on the mic, still really miss him.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 26
No one is as good as Punk obviously but they would help a lot of their guys by letting them write their own stuff and not script them.
You can tell right away when someone is scripted and someone who isn't, quite frankly it's boring to watch. What's the worse that could happen if they let Reigns say what he really feels instead of some tired old shit they came up with which completely dies.
Not like they are going to say something which hurts the company.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 26
The shoot promo was his Austin 3:16 moment(Austin's promo after beating Jake the Snake). Punk could and should have been the Austin of this era. Unfortunately poor booking spoiled it for him. He also needed someone like Bret Hart to really put him over.
Hart's role in putting Austin over is really underrated. They had an unbelievable feud and it helped really put Austin over.
HHH should have done that for Punk. Probably screwed him of the title at Summer Slam putting Punk out of action for a month. Punk comes back, feuds with HHH finally going over at the Rumble. Punk participates in the Rumble, wins and goes over Cena at Mania.
Instead HHH buried him.
His best promo imo is the one two weeks after the shoot promo. The one with the contract signing and Cena comes out. The one where Punk compares Cena to the Yankees. Absolutely destroys Cena on the mic. The best mic worker ever for me, better than Austin, Rock and Jericho.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 26
HHH buried punk, they booked him to lose 3 consecutive PPVs after that promo and ADR cashed money on the bank on him. Obviously that was their way of punishing him for what he said. That's what happens when wrestling is ruled by a bunch of insecure bastards who cant separate business from personal issues. Punk was no angel, he is in fact know to be an asshole, but the WWE pissed away a shit ton of money because of personal issues.

In fairness HHH knows all about that he was supposed to win the KOTR and then the Curtain Call happened and obviously was proceeded to be buried for a long time.

I'm still surprised he wants to work in the UFC, he's not some amazing athlete with a MMA background or anything lol.
Not that i actually believe it's going to happen anyway.

Well, a lot of their all time greats have been assholes. Didnt stop them from pushing them to the stars. Guess there were 2 major differences with Punk.
Firstly, back then there was competition and Vince couldnt afford to bury legit talent. Wasnt the case with Punk. Secondly and probably more crucially, none of the other assholes directly hated Vince and HHH like Punk did.
Probably Punk should have been a bit more strategic and tried to get along more with them. But then he wouldnt be Punk.
Still it saddens me that they wasted away a GOAT level talent like that. Genuinely believe he could have been the Austin of this era.

Unbelievable promo. Too bad the crowd was dead. He even prompts the What chant and there is nothing. Deserved a much better crowd.

I really don't think it was their way of burying Punk. I think it was just incompetent booking.

Agreed, people just like to hate on HHH despite the fact he's put over way more people than some " legends " ever have or will.

Come on. He comes out of retirement, defeats Punk and then goes back into retirement. No chance for a rematch and revenge. Makes Punk look super weak. Classic case of burial. Or how about Cena main eventing PPVs even when Punk was champion.
