@guest7 wrote:Look, I don't mind albums not being uber political, but if you're going to do it that way - go the Lil Wayne way. Have some punchlines, make a proper classic. Tha Carter III is one of my all time favourite albums, and it's an example why DAMN. will never be a classic in my eyes.

The punchlines, the lyrics, everything with Tha Carter III is what DAMN. should have been.

Where is the punchlines? What lyrics are so great about the album? I can only count one: the "there's a difference between black artist and wack artists"

The lyrics were wack point blank. Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III even managed to get political and it was all linked to his funny song Mrs Officer (which is a sex song where he beats her up like a cop, see that's funny to me) then it changes to Tie My Hands (that's about the institutionalizing of black men in America). That's just one of the examples how DAMN. should have been.

EDIT: Also there is noway there is coming a double album. Pure fan theorys.

Funny enough, A LOT of people will tell you Carter 3 was a good but not great album and Carter 2 is the real classic. Just goes to show this thing called preferences.

I don't see how you can listen to a song like FEEL. and say the lyrics on DAMN. were wack. I've never seen anybody say Kendrick's lyrics were wack. Maybe you need to open the Genius page for each track as you listen. Seems like you're missing a lot.

Amazing how many people come out full throttle against KL, this even happened when TPAB came out, people were like 'wtf is this' 'this aint no rap', stay salty haters. KL is a revolutionary, generational rapper. He's already surpassed a few of my favorites. But y'all trying to downplay him like lil jobber or some other similarly named rapper.

That song FEAR. is a great story and the lyrics are very engaging if not relatable for the most part. DUCKWORTH. is a great story as well.

I liked GKMC and TPAB more but this is definitely a great album too.

And fully agree on Carter II>>>Carter III. Carter 3 is where Wayne's downfall (quality wise) began.

For me this is better than TPAB, some will put TPAB above but i don't blame them, its fine, its more of a narrative and has more of an emotional introspect.

But this, this is otherwordly, like i can't listen to have the songs without moving or shaking my body

For any misguided souls who think this album wasn't conceptual enough or didn't have a strongly apparent theme. Ironically, it's probably his deepest self-analysis yet:

It feels blasphemous to think it but I'm getting there. Going to need a long time to sit with this record.

Isn't "If I gotta slap a pussy ass hoe nigga I'mma make it look sexy" and "please can I put the head in, I respect the cat" not cheesy for you? Laughing

K. Dot mixtapes had better punchlines than this album. I also regret saying the lyrics were wack, I should have said the lyrics were wack except FEAR. and DUCKWORTH. tbh.

Also TC3>>>>>>TC2, just a quick google shows that there are others that agree with me, but I guess the preference here is TC2 and I'm okay with that. Both are classics in my eyes but I felt like TC3 was the creative one and had a better appeal. Not in the mood to discuss it, just agree to disagree.

That's your preference then. I don't think punchlines for the sake of punchlines matter at all. It obstructs the delivery and you can tell when a rapper is just a punchline rapper. It's really just a novelty when it comes to that.

If you want to call the album lyrically whack then that's an unpopular opinion Laughing

What's @guest7's fascination with punchlines? Is that all there is to rap for you?
