Manchester City vs Arsenal (Sunday 8th May)

Post by Jay29 on Sat May 07, 2016 1:32 pm

Our final away game of the season. Around Christmas time we all thought this game would have a lot more weight to it, with two teams going at it for the title. Sadly, all that's at stake tomorrow is who finishes 3rd in the table and gets that automatic CL group stage spot.

As far as we're concerned, a win guarantees third and potentially closer to Spurs in second. A draw would make us big favourites for third given our final home game is Aston Villa. A City wins sees them go above us on goal difference.

The question is, do either side really give a crap at this point? Arsenal in April have been painful to watch as the team is quite clearly either on holiday or conserving energy ahead of the Euros. City haven't been much better. It'll probably be difficult for either side to get up for this one, so I'm not expecting a great game.

I am expecting us to lose pretty badly, though. City will want to play well for their final home game, and have the fire-power to convert whatever chances they make whereas we'll just give a token effort.

Mertesacker is out with a hamstring injury so Gabriel will return, while Ox is injured again. I expect the team will be mostly unchanged; yes, I expect Giroud to start yet again despite Welbeck's impact against Norwich.

Draw or loss suits me. Just want to see Tottenham finish above Arsenal at this point tbh. Not that I care much, but I know it would mean a lot to Spurs fans.

Ozil out the squad for some reason. Pretty attacking line-up with Ramsey playing CM.

I would have started Coquelin alongside El Nenny. Debruyn will hurt us too if we aren't careful

All that space City have given us in midfield yet our midfield can't even create a chance. Despite his goal, Giroud has been garbage. all he has to do is hold the ball up and make it stick and he can't do the basics. Koscielny and Monreal have been chaotic so far.
