i remember the "zidane's real madrid is the worst madrid side i've ever seen" thread lol.

this is just unbelievable, its like zidane saw the rubbish that happened with the galacticos and did the opposite. he did make some shawdy decisions, but more than made up for them

i like how he used the squad depth. in-squad competition is very important

Don't get me wrong, we have every reason to be happy about Zidane's accomplishments at this point in time, but if the team hadn't been so inexplicably consistent with their late comeback draws and wins during the first half of the season, his rotation policy could have really backfired on him. I wonder if he'll be so lucky next season, or if the team will play convincingly well from start to finish.

lol remember when on that same thread folks wanted us to play like city, cos it seemed "almighty" pep and city were flying high at the time. lol

but yeah someone mentioned it earlier that the rotations came out of necessity considering injuries and poor form from some. but it worked, that's what matters. i'm happy for him cos i was skeptical when we fired ancelotti and sportsczy was suggesting zidane way back then

felt (i still feel so), he was going primarily off the nostalgia of zidane the player, which fans tend to do when a former player makes a move at coaching. obviously when we fired rafa (i liked the firing, not how we did it), i didn't even mind if florentino was going to coach cos of the rubbish rafa was doing

whatever the case i still didn't picture this when zizou stepped in. and i doubt even sportczy who has been his biggest advocate pictured this. f***ing successive champions league. TWELVE.....fantastic

Absolutely a God of this sport, always loved also as player, still I remember that even if I supported Italy in 2006 and I celebrated it very much, I was on " Zidane Balon D'or 06 wagon " because it was the better thing, not that scumbag of Cannavaro
I didn't think to say he was so great even as coach.
Just him could get 2 CL in a row , outclassed Allegri yesterday,
And Juve defence is the best of the Europe on paper, so no one could imagine even 4 goals.

i think its too early to jump to that conclusion. he should either finish his coaching career first or add more miles/yrs on it, for people to reach such conclusion. i mean if we mess up next season (which hopefully we won't, what happens?).

besides as i've stated before "best coach" tags are extremely unimportant in the grand scheme of things

Di Matteo won the Champions League with a vastly inferior team. No one even cares about what he's doing, nowadays Rolling Eyes

Re: Zinedine Zidane Appreciation Thread

Oh come on.  Di Matteo parked the bus and that Chelsea team finished mid table in EPL.  Zidane has won back-to-back CLs and Real Madrid almost caught up to win La Liga last season, won La Liga this season AND had the longest unbeaten/winning streak in La Liga history in the process.  Real Madrid attack...  they do it with direct and physical play... but the team attacks. We wait for the second half and move our lines up and just make mincemeat of everyone in our path (almost).

What kind of argument is that ffs.

One guy followed his first CL win with a disastrous league campaign and a first round CL elimination.
The other followed his first CL win with another CL win and a league title.

Zidane is already off the list of young managers who could be compared to Di Mateo.

I'm obviously not comparing the two coaches based on their credentials. My only point was that Di Matteo won the biggest trophy under less favourable circumstances, yet we all know that it doesn't necessarily mean that he's a great coach. It seems to me that you're arguing that trophies = GOAT, regardless of the circumstances. Also, I'm definitely not a fan of claiming that someone is GOAT, based on their performance over a short period of time. I know a lot of people on here are, though. Can't tell whether it's banter or sincerity sometimes Laughing
