AW is too much of a nice and respectful gent to bid for someone that is not available according to the owners.

Some L'Equipe IT-K has been yammering about Mahrez all day, as noted in that sporting witness article.

He said we had a £30m bid rejected, 20 mins later updated that we bid £35m (because apparently we've made no movement for two months only to go crazy in the span of half an hour) and then he said "Mahrez to Arsenal soon".

He calls himself 'the Spectre'. It's really quite amusing in a depressing kind of way. FWIW, the Spectre also thinks Matuidi is being tracked by Chelsea.

In more legit news: Sky Sports say Man City are open to offers for Bony, Mangala and Samir Nasri.

Let's just take all three and call it a mediocre transfer window and be done with it.

Wenger"We want to spend the money when we have it," he explained. "But we respect the money we have – it is very difficult to find the quality of players who are available.Laughing rofl

"Despite all the money that exists in England there is very little movement in the transfer market" rofl

We could get another "10 quality players" and if the tactics are the same, then nothing will change.

Would rather Bony than no striker if it came down to it.

Would rather no one than Jonny Evans if it were down to that, too.

I'd forget about Mahrez, TBH. Leicester know he's PL top quality real estate at the moment and even if those "he's not leaving" procedures are only to bump his prize up, I'm pretty sure Wenger's not breaking any transfer records for him, even if he would add a lot of quality to the team.

New reports in the Guardian that Mahrez has agreed to stay at Leicester. Leicester do not want to sell at this stage.

So we can forget about it now. If we're lucky we might see a defender in by the end of the window.

Just don't let him go to Chelsea. Would be disappointing if he downgraded like Kante. He needs arsenal when Leicester start sucking (which I hope they don't)

Bony is a perfectly fine striker. Wouldn't mind him as backup at Bayern at all.

Arsenal expected to bid €35mil for Mustafi apparently:

http://news.arseblog.com/2016/08/e35m-bid-expected-to-seal-mustafi-deal/?utm_campaign=autotwitter&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitter

Not sure where the info's come from tbh so take it with a pinch of salt.

EDIT: Think it's come from here. No idea how reliable they are.

Actually quite confident Mustafi will be our player by Monday at least. Not sure if he will make the LFC match but he will be signed before the 2nd match at least.

Riyad Mahrez has now decided that he is willing to clash with Leicester in order to get a move to Arsenal, according to tomorrow's L'Équipe. L'Equipe tomorrow will also lead with the news that Arsenal have made a €41m offer for Leicester City's Riyad Mahrez

GFFN swear that this L'Equipe news is from one of their 'top reporters'.

At best, it looks like Leicester's camp are leaking info in the British press suggesting he's staying while his agent is telling the French press that he's pushing for a move.

At worst, we're wasting our breath even talking about Mahrez.

I doubt we're even looking at anyone but Mustafi right this second.

I don't normally tend to vouch for reporters in the transfer window but this guy is usually very accurate. He was the first to call Martial to Man United and reported on Kante to Chelsea.

Negotiations ongoing between Arsenal and Leicester. Arsenal made an offer for him. Mahrez very interested by Arsenal

Arsenal are nearing a 'breakthrough' in talks with Valencia over Shkodran Mustafi. Fee should be in the region of £20 million.

So on Mahrez we have two conflicting reports (when do we not?):

L'Equipe in France are adamant that offers have been made and negotiations are ongoing. This first came from a correspondent called Gilles Favard who is apparently very hit and miss. However, the story has since appeared in the L'Equipe newspaper and has been credited to Damien Degorre, who a month ago said Paul Pogba wanted to return to Man Utd - turns out he was right.

In addition to that, Mohamed Boufhasi, who MJ points out broke Martial to Utd before anyone, is also saying Mahrez wants to leave and negotiations are ongoing.

This contradicts Ed Maylon in the Guardian, who claimed to have been told that Mahrez has accepted he won't be allowed to leave Leicester this summer due to the difficulty of finding a replacement so late on, and that Leicester would require an offer well in excess of £50mil to really consider it.

The French stuff is clearly an agent leak. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it all ended with Mahrez getting a nice pay rise at Leicester. Or joining Chelsea.
