Re: Renato Sanches
Ya'll trippin'
What's all this talk about him being the next Edgar Davids and whatnot? I'd be surprised if he achieves the same hype as Royston Drenthe once did.

Re: Renato Sanches
Wilshere was absolutely on his way to becoming world class. But it doesn't help when you get career ending, year long injuries. Or let's just ignore that fact

Re: Renato Sanches
There is a rumor that he is actually 24 and not 19, which would explain a lot, 19 yo with this much athleticism lmao
this canhardly be proved but the banter
Speaking to Romanian broadcaster Dolce Sport, the ex-Auxerre boss of more than 40 years was certain Sanches hasn't been forthcoming about his age (h/t David F. Sanchidrian of AS): "He says that he is 18 years old, but I believe that we have to look at his past. His date of birth was declared years after he was born, so his registered date is not correct. I can assure you that he is 23 or 24."
Sanchidrian added that Roux was referring to an investigation from Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Noticias, which found Sanches' birthday, August 18, 1997, wasn't registered until 2002. However, it's since been found this was due to his parents splitting at a very young age.
this canhardly be proved but the banter

Can hardly be proved lmao.
The kid has been playing for the Sprting youth since he's 10 years old.
But yeah, apparenty he was 16 then really, and noone noticed.
SMH it's so hard to tell a 10 year old from a sixteen year old, just as hard as it is for a 77 year old Frenchman to tell an 18 year old black Portuguese kid he's seen on TV from a 24 year old.

This is prospering on RedCafé too, with cyberman at the forefront

Since Sanches chose us over them, they have been convincing themselves that he's worse than Anderson, technically weak, and really already 24 years old

Re: Renato Sanches
They're not saying he was 15 or 16 when he was 10. They're saying he could be 13 or 14. The media exaggerated per usual.
There was a similar issue that was found to be true in little league baseball in the United States. You had 14-15 year olds passing for 10-11 year olds.
Personally, I think that, like Falcao, there's a 2-3 year difference. No big deal... even if he's 20 or 21, he's still darn good for his age.

Re: Renato Sanches
All joking aside Hans, it does not sound farfetched at all. Being from an african country where people change their age to advance in sports you see crazy things...like Etoo for example...
If you were to tell me that Renato Sanchez was 23-24 from the start, i would not have questioned it. It's maybe the way his body matured.
precious banter though, cant wait to use it on goal chat

He's not from an African country. He's born in Lisbon. But yeah, these poor black people don't care for ages, numbers or birthdays right?
If his mother officially registers his birth 5 years later, surely she'll pass the 5 year old for an infant. Dominating already in kindergarten, heads above his peers

Because she knew he'd later be a professional footballer or international fashion model, where the career is short and young age is vital

Just like Obama's mother placed the birth announcement in an Chicago newspaper even though he was born in Kenya so that he'd be eligible for president- that foresight

Re: Renato Sanches
What the crap
Ok, I'm Sanches' mother and I will lie about my son's birthday, probably with big issues just raising him up (ya know, poverty and all that) so that the news can have a field day wondering how a 18 year old player be so solid and turn down no-CL ManU.
The hilarious thing is that he was born in frakking Lisbon, not an African country.
If being raised in poverty makes your date of birth dubious, then half the Latin guys would have off birthdates. Hell, it might even apply to most European players!

Re: Renato Sanches
It was/is highly prevalent for parents coming from impoverished backgrounds to lie about the age of their kids. Why? The kid looks physically more developed and has more coordination at the age of 12-13 than 10... it goes without saying. So they test much better than the kids that are younger.
In youth academies, the first cutoff is made on physical ability alone. If the kids get chosen, they get free food, lodging and education even if they don't make it as pros later. It's winning the lottery for such families.
Also, some families like to stagger the age of their kids (or optimize if you prefer) so that the social benefits they get for kids is stretched. You also get more money for younger kids then older ones.
I can go on and on.
It's not about football really. It's about putting food on the table and a roof over their heads for as long as possible by getting as much as they can from the social services.

So...did he?
Also, would hold up on the flop tag line till Bayern sells him to Dortmund/Wolfsburg for a huge fraction of the cost they paid. Young man still has time on his contract. Too bad he has a manager who really isn't known for trust in young players.
