Forster and Drinkwater have pulled out through injury. Jordan Pickford and Aaron Cresswell have been called up.

Pickford is awful. Cresswell is decent but now we have three left backs in the squad so no idea what the plan is there.

Our 21s are playing Italy in a friendly right now. Team:

Gunn

Hayden - Chambers - Stephens - Galloway

Ward-Prowse - Chalobah - Baker

Swfit

Redmond - Gray

The current U21 manager is Aidy *bleep* Boothroyd.

Ward-Prowse should gtfo.

Put Loftus-Cheek there, then it's an all Chelsea midfield Proud

Ward-Prowse is this era's Milner Laughing Will probably break the record for U21 caps before he gets a first team call up.

Not the worse performance last night. Gray looks exciting but like all English wingers that come through seems to lack intelligence. Redmond's decision making is pretty poor as well.

Terrible team. Woy and Gary Neville would be doing better than this

Only keeping one eye on the game, but the passing has been terrible. Stones has given the ball away so many times. Dier and Henderson aren't showing for the ball either.

Scotland should be level.

Our U21s would beat our first team. They actually know what they're doing.

It seems very likely Southgate is going to get the job full time now, due to a shortage of candidates.

On one hand, it'll be a nice change of pace to have a young manager with more modern ideas in charge instead of the usual old school coach. Southgate turned the U21 side into a watchable team when he took over from Stuart Pearce, putting a lot more emphasis on keeping the ball and combination play.

On the other hand, his record at major tournaments was as bad as Pearce's. Sometimes his teams didn't use the ball well enough and looked toothless. I'm not convinced he has the charisma or strong leadership qualities to get this current England team together and get his ideas across.

The U21's are playing France now. Team:

Mitchell

Iorfa - Holding - Mawson - Hause

Winks - Chalobah

Watmore - Baker - Grealish

Abraham

Looking forward to seeing Tammy Abraham for the first time after all the hype. And Rob Holding, of course.

1-0 England. Watmore lobbing the keeper from 25 yards. Didn't know he could do that tbh.

Kane was sent back to Spurs, Rooney pulled out yesterday and Sturridge can't play two in a week so that just leaves out-of-form Vardy up front. Could have gone with Rashford I guess.

The only other options on the wing are Townsend and Walcott.

Southgate's going counter-attacking. Spain will have 80% of the ball lol.

Spain team:

Reina; Carvajal, I. Martinez, Nacho, Azpilicueta; Busquets, Thiago; Mata, Silva, Vitolo; Aduriz

Great pass by Lallana to play Vardy in. He needs to play 10 every game.

Spain just picked us open lol. Don't think this'll stay 1-0 for very long.
