Portugal's team:

Patricio; Vieirinha, Bruno Alves, Carvalho, Eliseu; Danilo, Moutinho, Adrien, Joao Mario; Rafa Silva, Nani

No centre forward, looks they're playing a diamond as well.

Who was the last good portuguese CF??

They've had no one there for what it feels like over a decade now.

Pauleta, I guess? Postiga after that wasn't awful, though certainly not the best.

Their midfield talent is pretty impressive though:

Joao Mario
William Carvalho
Rafa Silva
Andre Gomes
Renato Sanches

So many bad first touches and overhit passes.

If only England had a midfielder with a good first touch and through ball hmm

This is what happens when you play Dier, Milner and Rooney in midfield together. None of them are good passers or creative players and the build-up suffers because of it.

Some actual creative players come on and we look a little more dangerous. What do you know?

Vardy's very good at running in behind, but ask him to do anything else and he struggles. Across these three friendlies I haven't seen him link up with Kane at all.

I'd honestly rather start Rooney ahead of him, because at least Rooney understands that he has to vary his runs and link-up with other players.

These friendlies have shown what we already knew - England will fail if they ignore the creative players in favour of workhorses like Milner, and if they insist on shoehorning Rooney into roles he's not suited to. I don't know who keeps duping people into thinking Rooney can play as a 10 but it needs to stop.

The World Cup was a failure because the balance of the team was wrecked by Rooney playing on the left. Now it looks the Euros will be a failure because Rooney is going to play 10 and the likes of Wilshere, Sterling and Lallana are going to sit on the bench.

You have described the problems of Manchester United lol

Rooney is just a name that nobody has the balls to drop

except SAF in his final year...there is a reason he made up the Rooney transfer request on his way out lol was trying to force him out

English media, pundits, commentators, fanboys. They think rooney can be a worldclass no.10 somehow.
We fans have Been mulling over this shit for over an year now. No one pays any heed. Now that his performances are affecting the NT suddenly theres an uproar.[ http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36441260 ] Laughing
Rooney is good enough to play only as a box to box in a 3 man mf right now. Even there his touch will let him down. At least his passing is still decent and has good workrate tracking back.
He is finished as a top player. Wont get into a top team now. Only average teams such as United and England NT will have spaces for him in their roster.

Is Neville still an assistant to Hodgson ? After seeing his Valencis stint, it will be a disaster for Roy to still have him
