Just read an article titled "Ex-Rangers star Gattuso appointed AC Milan boss"

I thought it was click bait until I wiki'd Gattuso. I cannot believe Gattuso played for Rangers for a year. Mind blown.

The results weren't bad under Berizzo but the performances were very poor. The team was playing below its potential and had no real identity. He wasn't helped by the recruitment, either, as the club thought guys like Navas and Nolito - both in their 30s - would be good signings. And Muriel, the club's record signing, apparently can't finish at all. There have been injuries to key centre backs as well.

Montella could be interesting. I don't know if he's as bad a coach as Milan made him look. I think Sevilla is a tough job for anyone, though, because the squad lacks quality in defence and pace in attack.

It applies the other way too. If Utd lose to that jabroni, I don't think there is enough warning level deductions to stop certain posters from going absolutely ballistic.

The lack of pace was one of his biggest issues at Milan as well and he wasn't able to find a way to cope with that.

This Sevilla is the most erratic team I've watched in my lifetime. 4-0 loss to Celta ffs

I don't think Montella is a bad coach, but his style and Italian style in general does not fit La Liga at all.

Caparrós being the coach until the end of the season. He knows the club and I hope he does well.

How is Sevilla's financial situation? And has Monchi's departure hurt them badly or are there still capable people doing the running of things?

Grazie Montella

It was a rather long stay at Sevilla but thanks for providing us for the moment of the season

I'm sure more tributes will be flowing in as we speak

One win in his last eleven games.

There was a huge fallout after the Copa del Rey final. Losing to Bayern in the Champions? Fine, because the team played well, and they'd never gotten that far. And losing to Barcelona in the cup final wouldn't have been that bad either, but they were beyond bad and got smashed.

Meanwhile, the league form has been awful. It's not just losing games, but losing games horribly. 5-3 against Betis, 5-1 against Eibar, 5-2 against Atleti, 4-0 against Celta, losing to Alaves and Levante... I don't think it's all Montella's fault, but his time was defined by a toothless attack and incredibly leaky defence and as a coach he failed to address any of that. I think he tried to impart his style on the team too soon, when maybe he'd have lasted longer if he focused on the defence and building a solid team.

I don't know who's taking over. Caparros has the job until the end of the season. Maybe Emery will come back, depends on what he has lined up next and if he'll take a pay cut after PSG.

How is Sevilla's financial situation? And has Monchi's departure hurt them badly or are there still capable people doing the running of things?

The finances are okay. The club broke it's transfer record twice recently and they usually rake in a big fee for someone in the summer.

Monchi's departure has hurt them badly. His replacement, Oscar Arias, was sacked this week. Almost every player Arias has brought in has flopped - Roque Mesa hasn't played, Johannes Geis hasn't played much, Sandro hasn't scored, Nolito has sucked, Lionel Carole was ostracised after six months. Muriel is unreliable but has at last made an impact. Banega and Navas are club icons and were always bound to do well after coming back.
