The Milan management expect six points from the two upcoming games against Genoa and Chievo, otherwise Montella risks his position [Sky].

The first names to possibly replace Montella have emerged: Prandelli and Sousa. Fassone wants to continue with Montella at the moment. [Sky]

Is Milan capable of any manager that hasn't first managed Fiorentina? Or is this the only criteria for the job

Not bad names to be honest, may not be worse than Montella, just not sure how much better

Prandelli and Sousa??? rofl

Why not just say *bleep* it all the way and just go for Iacchini or Delio Rossi if the objective is to turn into Palermo Laughing

This.

and not only is Sousa in the Montella mold, but he already failed to solve the "dysfunctional squad" problem at Fiorentina last year. With much ore pressure and urgency to get results, it is harder. Opposite profile of what is needed.

Losing to JJ isn't sack-worthy. But conceding from Higuain is another matter altogether. :coffee:

After much contemplation, i would rather keep him until the end of the season than sack him. The options i'm seeing are as disgusting as mom's harees, no i don't want Gattuso/Sousa/Prandelli/Lippi. Better to stay put with Montella's antics than hire another pleb.

Gattuso got sacked after like 5 games with Pisa in Serie B. I can't believe he's the replacement.

No, Gattuso was not sacked , he concluded the year in Pisa. But he relegated it
He played also negative football . But tbf the team was atrocious and the club situation even worse than this.
Salaries not paid to players for months etc
Pisa shouldn't have enrolled to league . Infact it was an uncertain thing until the end (but then there was the problem of a Serie B with 21 teams...) , it was permitted just because the team was named Pisa.
Probably he is not a good coach, but surely it is hard to rate him from that Serie B season.
Terrible situation that was prohibitive for everyone...
Probably he was chosen also for this, not just a Milan legend but also a coach used to manage in a quagmire.

I have a lot of respect and sympathies for Gattuso, one of our single fiercest adversaries ever, so I don't know if I can approve this.
To me it sounds like another immortal club legend will be casually shredded to sorry pieces without necessity by this joke of a club

It was the same in Creta as well where the club wasn't even paying the players but he did well enough for the fans to want ask him to stay when he quit.

Can't really judge him yet. At least he still acts like prime-Gattuso and jumps into fires.

I expect more Cutrone and Silva, less Kalinic and Calhanoglu from him.

Montella:

“Leaving Milan hurts a lot,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I tried and tried to give my all for this club, but I accept the decision that’s been made.

“I want to thank the players and fans for the beautiful moments that we shared together, hoping Milan would get back to the top.

“Clearly I failed, but I’ll keep supporting these colours.”

Why would he keep supporting the colours when he's actually a Roma man?

Re: Vincenzo Montella sack watch

If anything he wont be able to marshall this team better than montella in less time, this move is puzzling

now Im simply waiting for him to strangle someone on the field, seems to me to be the only way Milan can entertain me

okay guys, how long before Gattuso hurts somebody via shaking, choking, headbutting? place your bets

I give him one month

On a more realistic note, I ask myself why now? we are pretty solid defensively and the game yesterday could have gone our way, and Montella would still be the coach

He seemed really good at handing the pressure and scapegoating himself for some of our calamities, i also think that we very close to a breakthrough point in our season, and a few goals yesterday could have done that for us

Now we go back on the coach whom this project was promised to, to hire seedorf and inzaghi v3

Yet another Milan legend will have his reputation tarnished for not being able to save these scrubs, it seems were better at destroying coaching careers than we once thought, we are the kiss of death for any manager

Gattuso has limited experience as a coach but we all know later in his career he was pretty much an authority on our bench, and often pumped up our players, losing him in our dressing room had a dramatic impact on our morale and i think its at least positive that he can use his Milan status to try and pump up our guys once more

Having a budding relationship with our youth squad is certainly positive, we have long needed a bridge between our youth team (which produces talent on the regular) and our first team, i expect gattuso to promote some of his more utilized players from that system, we have a few gems to unearth no doubt

Tactically, i have my doubts

He would be smart to build on top of montella and throw more aggression and fitness into our regime, I just have limited hopes due to the leonardo/seedorf/brocchi/inzaghi/miha eras. If an experienced tactician like montella struggles this badly then i wonder how gattuso will fair. I hope he proves me dead wrong.

tldr: one step forward, two steps back

Just read an article titled "Ex-Rangers star Gattuso appointed AC Milan boss"

I thought it was click bait until I wiki'd Gattuso. I cannot believe Gattuso played for Rangers for a year. Mind blown.
