For it to be a handball it has to be intentional. Is anyone going to tell me Piggy stuck his hand out like that intending to blatantly block the ball in the box? Of course he was stupid to do it but that doesn't make it a penalty.

But Sports please go back to being biased for France, I miss the old you Sad

Playing a double pivot against Germany is very strange. I feel like Kante would've been so fantastic in this game to help nullify Kroos and Ozil.

France looking kind of frail.
Not sure if Sissoko belongs in this game.
Giroud has to pass to Griezmann on that breakaway.
If Griezmann was right footed, he scores the earlier chance.

Umtiti playing a decent game too.

They are controversial because nobody seems to understand that it has to be intentional.

He's like an inch away and it's impossible to determine whether he meant to block it or not. It's also impossible for him to get his arm out of the way from such close range.

France should bring on Kante now for Sissoko and Martial on for Giroud.

Martial - Griezmann

Payet - Matuidi - Pogba
Kante

Disrupt Germany's midfield and they'll have a hard time getting back into it.

Clear penalty.

Oh please don't come with that intentional bs. He goes for a ball in the air and raises his hands. Of course the ball accidently hits the hand but if you go in like that you accept that the ball might hit your hand thus if it happens it's as good as intentional.

Add to that the fact the referee has to decide whether it's a penalty or not in a fraction of a second and you can understand why he called it. Intentional or not, a player of Schweini's experience shouldn't have fallen for it. He has only himself to blame.

You jump up with your arms flaying near your opponents head, when he's clearly going to try to head it, and the ball hits your arm, then it's not considered ball to hand. That was a clear penalty; rookie move by the veteran

Because of the way he's jumping, it's impossible for it to be any other way.

You can't really prove that he moved his arm to block the ball rather than just using arms for leverage while he jumps.

Well I agree with that, I just don't think it was intentional but the ref did and that's fine.

There lies the difficulty no ?. A ref has 2-3 seconds , in the heat of the moment to make a decision. however I find the rule to be better than before when every single hand meant penalty .

Well I agree which is why while I disagree I don't particularly have an issue with it either tbh.

Germany conceded only 2 golas, both on pens. impressive. Portugal might be praying for this game to last as long as possible.
