They couldn't beat Gent. They finished below Leverkusen and I bet they'll find a way to finish below Arsenal. Some poster(s) have the nerve to think Poch is some sort of "good" manager. Shameful, just shameful.

If Poch was a middle aged englishman he'd be ridiculed to no end.

Would you? I doubt it tbh.

I'd take a great historic club like Ajax in a heartbeat. Werder Bremen can go the other way for all I care.
@elfmeter will not be happy but I'm willing to trade Eredivisie one Werder Bremen. You'd have no trouble qualifying for CL in BuLi either.

Ajax are a great historic club like since 1969, did they even exist before Cryuff????? Holland was not even a country, still isnt. Werder were a Bundesliga original, winning it before Bayern even existed! They been around since 1899, shame one you! And Dutchies in the BuLi, yeah right, just like we will see a female chancellor in Germany, sure.

On the topic of Werder, was sure the foals were out when that ex Werder defender Westergard did that slip and miskick thing he did. Nice comeback and good game to watch, really thought they were still going to lose it somehow. If that game did not get RWo out, I dont know what will?

So are there anymore WWEPL teams left in Europe?

Belgium has 3 teams in the final 16, La Liga, Serie A and the EPL have one each. Hilarious, given the money spent on the teams.

Obviously, this season's European competition are a consequence of last season's league campaigns.

Last season's PL was arguably the lowest in quality, with a number of regular top teams underperforming, and as a consequence this season you had teams like Leicester, Tottenham Hotspur, even West Ham in Europe which normally do not belonge there.

We should get all of our gloating and sense of superiority out of our system now, become things won't stay like that in the future.
Next season, Premier League's European campaigns will be much stronger, with Pep's City, Klopp's Pool, Allegri's Arsenal and Conte's Chelsea.
Wait.
Strike that last one.
But Pep, Allegri and Klopp will obviously oversee better campaigns than Ranieri, Bilic and Pochhettino.

Why is Pochettino's fault, when Son was one on one with Gent's GK in a perfect position but he couldn't even manage to calm himself down and take a shot on target. Why is his fault that the players weren't able to shoot properly from inside the box yesterday?

I'm not saying Pochettino is a good or a bad manager.

that's like the absolute perfect EL draw possible for us, a lot of the semi decent teams drew each other, we get utter scrubs and the few remaining teams that could trouble us play each other

Gent and Genk are a joke. I saw Astra against Genk and it was only because Astra's GK couldn't save a free kick which 9 out of 10 GKs would have saved and because the attacking players of Astra missed some huge chances, but overall play was much better from Astra.

And Gent...you know...

It's a shame that two of Schalke, Gladbach, Lyon and Roma will not be in the last 8 while one of Gent and Genk will surely be. Good job UEFA!

Brutal draws for Roma. First Villarreal and now Lyon.
BMG vs Schalke should be fun too.

Fully expect Rostov to beat United in Russia tbh. Russia is always a pain to play in.
They've beat Ajax there (4-1), Bayern (3-2) and only lost to Atleti (1-2). They also beat Sparta Prague (4-0). United will tie in the end ofc.

Olympiacos-Besiktas sounds like it could be really intense.

I didn't realise how weak the Europa League is this year. I'd be amazed if one United or Roma don't win it this year.

Gent vs Genk is a match for the ages.

85% of RedCafe think United are favourites to win EL now lmao

The lols when they crash out against Rostov.

Rostov is the perfect draw. They'll have to go to Russia and they are sure to underestimate them. We lost against them..

I'm saying. This isn't me being cocky. Anything bar a Utd or Roma win in the EL this season should be deemed a huge upset. The quality is shocking.

Mou is good for things like this but its not easy. I remember Balotelli bailing Inter with a free kick against CSKA when Mou was in charge of his trebble winning team.

It will be tight in the end.

We have also conceded more than 1 goal only 3 times this season IIRC. There's no way we are going to go to Russia and concede a bunch of goals. We will smash them at home and probably get one or two goals away.
