Uli Hoeness to return to the club presidency

Bayern has announced that Uli Hoeness, who got out of prison on probation earlier this year after having been convicted to 3 and a half years in prison in 2014, will run for president of FC Bayern, to be elected at the main assembly in November.
In cases of 'good behaviour' and 'good societal rehabilitation prospects', convicts can get out of jail after half the sentence, conditions which Hoeness was able to exploit.

Current president Hopfner, who's been working together with Hoeness for decades and took over the office from Hoeness after the latter's conviction, has always declared he'd be willing to step back again to allow Hoeness to return.
It's expected that Hoeness will be elected without much resistance.

It's not quite clear whether he'll also take over again as chairman of the supervisory board.

So this is good news for Bayern, right?

I'm not sure whether this is good or bad news, or small or big news.

I just hope he and the rest of the Bayern management stop acting like they're on this moral high ground... because they are absolutely not obviously.  It's the height of hypocrisy when they comment on ethics and morals.

But I know that even with Hoeness as a convicted felon, they won't stop saying nonsense.

Well, at least he served his sentence in prison, other than certain other felons...
