People watch Real Madrid BECAUSE they are part of La Liga. People do NOT watch La Liga because Real Madrid is a part of it. They would just as well watch Barca-Valencia and Atletico-Sevilla.
And no one would watch Real Madrid in an amateur league.

Yeah sure their voices count...
Here is a breakdown of the new domestic deal worth 2.65 billions for 3 year
They have not announced the new overseas deal yet

I think you have that backwards mate. People watch RM (and thus La Liga) because of the players RM have. The vast majority of people are not watching Granada v Las Palmas, but people do watch RM v Granada etc.
I highly doubt the casual fan cares what league RM play in- they are most famous for their CL play anyways..

People don't watch leagues... they watch players. The teams with the best players are the most watched. Simple as that. You will get local popularity regardless of players. But you will never get a large national and international following without having a worthy product.
As long as Real Madrid has some of the most popular players in the world, it will be massively popular. The team could move to the Portuguese league and its popularity wouldn't even hiccup.

I don't have it backwards. The reason Real Madrid's brand is as powerful as it is is BECAUSE they are part of La Liga. Look at Celtic and their domination of their league. Nobody gives a shit about them. Or Olympiakos in Greece etc.
I already explained the short term and long term effects on the last page. Madrid's brand will dissipate long term and La Liga would survive the short term shock.
Real Madrid needs La Liga and what La Liga offers them (Barca, Atleti, Valencia, Sevilla etc) more so than La Liga needs Madrid.

Real Madrid would not have the brand power or the prestige if they were NOT in La Liga thus none of these players would be playing for Real Madrid.

Exactly. No one will give a shit about Real Madrid in 10 years if they are kicked out of La Liga. No tip players would go to play there.

And La Liga is not even the reason Madrid is the most glamorous club in the world. It's the Champions League / ex-European Cup that makes us the biggest club in the world. Sevilla and Valencia

Re: Real Madrid went to court to try and stop an equal revenue share of the TV rights
@James.... you can't be this dense. Come on dude. Whoever has the most money can buy the best players and whoever has the best players gets the most fans. Leagues just give you an arena to compete. Ligue 1, Portuguese League, etc. would get on their knees if Real Madrid wanted to join. And the biggest competition is the Champion's League.
La Liga doesn't have a monopoly in terms of competitive arenas. There are several. If it wanted to, Real Madrid could just move leagues. It won't because Spain won't allow it... they will compromise with Real Madrid. It would be unthinkable. BUT, Real Madrid will make sure it gets the deal that it can live with and nothing less.

La Liga offers Real Madrid Champions League qualification.
Real Madrid would NOT be in CL without La Liga.
Please stop arguing about this. You will lose this argument.

@James I agree 100%. People writing off Madrid's effort to undermine the competition off the pitch IS NOT AND WILL NEVER BE "business as usual". Since football more than just business. Even when business try to eliminate competition the consumer loses.

First off give me an example of a federation taking in a foreign club. And no Monaco doesn't count.
Madird will not have the money nor the prestige without eerything La Liga has to offer them.

If you only play against scrubs, people forget why your players are supposed to be all that great anyway;
Real will get enough money from the UCL.

Maybe we as fans have a romantic fantasy about how sports should be pure and competitive, but football is a business, and in business you simply dont take less if you can get more.

As much as I would love to keep rebutting these idiotic arguments from you Madridistas, it's a moot point and I have to go.
Madrid won't be affecting by the equitable TV deal anyways.

People grasping at straws by comparing the legal attempt to stop the Football Federation and Spanish Gov't in enforcing a more equitable TV deal and buying rivals players.

It seems the "poor" clubs in La Liga are better most clubs of other leagues. Madrid is right, why change the distribution of income? La Liga is about 20 points ahead of the other top 3 leagues in UEFA coefficient.

Scum move. I remember Bayern helping out Dortmund when they were going bankrupt, can't imagine Madrid doing anything like that ever.

Re: Real Madrid went to court to try and stop an equal revenue share of the TV rights
Clearly you know nothing about our club and what we do for others
Just some seasons ago (2013 to be precise) we played a friendly in the middle of the league campaign against the once powerful Deportivo LaCoruna who were threatened with liquidation. ALL proceeds of the game were donated to Depor and everything was paid for by Madrid. Look at them now and compare tohow they were then. Until this day they still thank us
Half of the players in this league came through our youth system that they were able to get for cut prices. Every season teams in LL get players from our youth team that play a big role in helping them stay up/qualify for Europe places. No other team in Europe helps out their league as much as we do
