PSG Vs Arsenal
13/9/16 19:45pm
Parc des Princes

Probably our most difficult match in this CL group stages. It's always a good thing to stat with a win but it might not come in this match. PSG are a great team who are very difficult to beat at home. However they do bring an interesting match up compared to the likes of Barca or Bayern away which we face every other year.

This is going to be a good match I think for the neutrals.

No idea what team Arsene will play. Xhaka has to start if he was benched at the weekend. But next to who? Cazorla is in great form. But will that be enough protection? Find it hard to think he would drop Coquelin.

Oxlade will most definitely not start. Walcott should probably start as the match can be a counter attacking one.

Might see this team

----------------------Cech-------------------------
Bellerin--------Mustafi-----koscielny-------Monreal
-------------Xhaka--------Cazorla----------------
Walcott-------------Ozil-----------------Sanchez
-------------------Giroud-------------------------

I feel that PSG are far more beatable than Bayern or Barca. They of course have a lot of quality players but I just don't get that feeling of inevitable defeat like I do when we travel to Barca or Bayern.

It helps as well that they aren't in great form and are still adjusting to a new manager and have a couple of injury issues.

Still, I want us to play on the counter. PSG have two very dangerous passers in Motta and Verratti who will play the ball into dangerous areas if we leave too many spaces and are comfortable even when pressed. Whoever is in midfield has a huge job and protecting it. Whoever is on the left has to be swtiched on too because Aurier is dangerous coming forward from right back.

I know Emery well and at home on big European nights he tended to send out an agressive and proactive team, so I think space will be there for us to counter. It's the sort of game Lucas should play in but it sounds like Giroud will be back.

Although I feel like this is winnable a draw would be a great result in the wider context of the group. This is our hardest game and knowing we won't have to go there to get a result makes winning just a bit less important tonight. Important thing is to not lose and give PSG the head-to-head advantage.

According to reports Emery will risk bringing back Thiago Silva, Maxwell and Aurier. Depending on the level of their fitness this could be a big positive for us, no matter how good these guys are.

This PSG is without a doubt the weakest PSG team in recent years. Even considering this I can't feel confident enough for a result because we haven't been at our best either. Maybe this is the night when it all clicks together for us. Or it could be PSG's night when it all clicks together.

Emery was at the Emirates to watch us play vs Southampton and is reportedly playing 5 midfielders against our 2. I feel this is the kind of game that we should adapt to the opposition and field 3 midfielders as well, with Xhaka, Cazorla and Elneny. Alexis and Özil wide with Giroud up front.

It's time we actually finish first in a CL group and with PSG not at their best it's the ideal chance to do it.

I am more interested in Wengers line up than the game. Laughing
Perez on the wings?

I take a tie but if we can win at PSG it would be a huge confidence booster, and this all depends on which Arsenal side shows up.

----------------Cech
Bellerin----Mustafi-----Koscielny---Monreal
-----Xhaka----Santi
Iwobi-----Ozil-----Sanchez
-------------Perez

Perezi-----Ozil-----Sanchez

Just hoping we don\'t get blown away, we don't need anything like that

A draw would be a good result

My initial theory of Xhaka only being bought because Wenger doesn't want last years repeat of Cazorla getting injured and no regista is gaining traction imo. hmm

Walcott has a "minor knee injury".

Doesn't explain Xhaka's exclusion, or both strikers sitting on the bench, or Ospina starting in goal.

We're getting smashed ffs.

I really have no idea what's going on with Xhaka.

Didn't play longer than 45 mins in pre-season. Didn't start against Liverpool or Southampton. Not starting tonight. Didn't play 90 against Leicester or Watford.

Something's up. Either he's not fit (which would be indredible) or Wenger somehow doesn't rate him over Coquelin.

Spend 35m on a player as first signing of summer, make him ride the bench. #Wenger

Even if Ospina has a good game why drop your #1 GK?

It's cool story, how our lads seem to gravitate away from the ball and allow PSG to pick up the loose balls.

It's also cool how Sanchez is the only one pressing, and every time he turns around and asks the others why they didn't step up with him rofl

Good to see that our overwhelming desire to walk the ball into the net is also back, even though we're so much worse at keeping possession than we were 2009-11. Laughing

Clearly, Wenger thinks that CL is the European equivalent of the League Cup. That'd explain the team selection, including Ospina and Iwobi.

Elneny would have blasted that one from that distance.

Elneny should probably look for a loan move in Dec. Both him and Xhaka for that matter.
