Serie A Season 16/17 - Page 4 Empty Re: Serie A Season 16/17

Post by Kaladin Sun Oct 23, 2016 10:57 pm

I have to say we started out the game very badly, we couldn't play out from the back to save our lives, Juve were pressing like monsters and we couldn't get the ball forward. we looked incredibly shaky, Alex Sandro was running rampant get into some great positions, Abate was so bad at marking him, so many times he got in behind or he was free on the flank. Of the defenders, Paletta was defintelty the best, I was awestruck, he was a complete wall, cleared god knows how many balls and prevented god knows how many goals. Romagnoli was a notch below him, btw love that new look of his, i'm sure we can all agree his resemblance to a certain former Milan defender is uncanny. I'm searching for a close pic of him to compare it with Nesta, it was shocking how he looked similar to him lol. De Scigilio was amicable, but that's about it.

In midfield, Boanventura had a night to forget, was dispossessed countless times, and misplaced a lot of passes, if there's one thing positive he's got it was his tenacity last night because he never stopped trying. Locatelli, was the same, misplaced a lot fo passes, however 2 things I liked from him 1) he kept dropping between the CB's to pick up the ball 2) he isn't afraid of sending in those incisive passes to the attackers. He still needs a lot of work, his inexperience showed up big time, however its all forgiven thanks to his brilliant goal. When Suso passed that ball I was so surprised, thinking who the hell is he passing to, then it turned out to be Loca, this isn't something you'd see Montolivo doing, pushing up that high, it was incredible. Kucka put in a decent performance, nothing really notable, but decent.

In attack, I think our best forward was Suso, he looked the tidiest one, heck, he looked the most comfortable one on the ball in our team. He deserved that assist, he kept dragging, pushing and pulling defenders all night. Niang, was a mixed bag, we had a few good attacks thanks to his runs, although you have to wonder his sprint to crossline then cross with the left is outdated, doesn't really achieve anything. Bacca was deprived, as per usual, but he did his best in winning Don's goal kicks.

Donnarumma really should've done better with that Pjanic FK, it remains to be a weakness of his, also that one occasion where he ran out to clear the ball was stupid, got a yellow as well. We

Overall, I don't think we had a brilliant game, I don't think we had a really bad game too. If it was out of 10, i'd give it 4.5-5, because really, we shouldn't have won that with that disallowed goal, oh well, karmic force and all that.

I know this is somewhat late, but....

GRACIA LOCATELLI

It was a fortunante goal, and I think Juve were generally better (but not by much), but we were not bad ourselves. There is still an element of chaos to our general play, which makes me tense throughout the match. Still, we have better control of that chaos than we ever had in the last five years.

I am happy Montella is carrying on with the positive work started by Miha. Hope we continue like this.

As for the disallowed goal, that is the correct decision IMO.

You had two offside Juve players making a run for the ball, that means they are interfering with play. End off discussion.

Why is Calabria ostracized?

Is Antonelli injured/ostracized too? Play him left and MDS right.

In short, anyone but Poli Laughing

We played well but individual mistakes have been costly. The decision to play Honda and Poli was bad as they were out of sync with the rest of the team and led to the feeling that we are playing 2 players short. I'm not too worried about this result as frustrating matches like these can happen, unfortunately, none of our players had the x-factor to change the result today. Lets just hope that this does not affect the team mentally.

I would also like to add that Locatelli impressed me a lot today, he was great in moving the ball in midfield and showed the type of player we have been missing the past 3 seasons.

With a team like Genoa, conceding a game early basically meant we could never win the game. We struggle to break down any team that defends well, or rather any team that doesn't need to attack since they are already winning.

We simply should never allow any team to overwhelm us like Genoa did in the first 15 minutes.

I don't think Honda played a bad game, but Susa would of course have been the better option in the right. Honda's work rate and passing qualities can work in the midfield, but not in the wing.

Poli at right back was a costly mistake from Montella. That simply doesn't work. Never will work, and there is no reason to imagine it should.

Honda provided nothing plus played them onside for the opening goal. Even Poli wasn't as bad. The two of them on the right side together just nullifies any threat from the right wing for Milan.

Very impressed by Suso, looked really good coming in. Bonaventura was a beast, I thought he was easily your best player against Genoa.

Btw, when is Milan gonna get on with it and sign Rincon? hmm motm performance from him.

Poli was practically responsible for all two goals and Paletta's red.

I would say he was much worse than Honda.

Bacca did not join the squad to celebrate under the Curva Sud. Lapadula, who was on the bench for the whole game, was present. [Mediaset]

His behaviour is abysmal, really not liking how he feels like he's entitled to everything, just put your head down and work on yourself
