Freeza wrote:Game Of Thrones: They're probably taking their time to finish off right. Also takes longer to write when they can't follow the books? (I guess). Scheduling could also be a reason as the stars get more popular.
Fargo: Noah Hawley was a busy man making Legion.
Westworld: Production of season 1 was a mess and they weren't prepared for season 2 because they needed to figure out how succesful it wouldbecome
Atlanta: Donald Glover's schedule is probably the only reason this doesn't come out this year. Star Wars, Lion King and a music career.
Better Call Saul: don't know anything about this show.
Stranger Things: Seems like this was the same case as Westworld where they weren't expecting that big of a succes.
Master Of None: Aziz has a pretty hectic schedule with his stand up I think.
Overall I don't mind them taking time to make the best stuff they can make. There's already so much stuff out there to consume that you don't want to waste time with rushed television.
Just remembered, you can add House Of Cards to the list too.

- Homeland episode 12:
- R.I.P Peter Quinn.
Next season should be interesting with the president going to war with the deep state.

The Leftovers season 3 is apparently absolutely amazing according to reviews. So relieved. Considering how Lost ended.

The first season is so meh. I just can't jump that hurdle to get to the 'apparent' good part.

Season finale of Homeland was lit. That president is not going to know what hit her when Carrie goes after her. Also finally the writers put Quinn out of his misery. Poor choice though, he is one of the best actors out there and his character is one of the main ones

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
13 Reasons Why, my thoughts/spoilers:
- Spoiler:
- A little bit cringe at times, almost corny in some respects but I thought the character development for a 13 episode series was very strong.
I don't mind the ending, whether or not a season 2 is born- I'm sure it will be because $>, I am ok with making my own conclusions and seeing Clay be the great equalizer in all this.
My main problem is Hannah arriving at Bryce's house, where she was raped. Why did she go? What was her motivation to go to a party at person's house that she knew to have raped someone at a previous party which she witnessed? Also, for Jess's party, she only went for Clay, Clay is not a factor at Bryce's party. It just seemed like lazy writing for a show that was otherwise executed so well.
Watching the entire show I was like none of this seems that bad, this girl is bright and smart, she has very supportive parents- who were great characters/actors (squabbled about money and their business not booming but that's not suicide worthy for me), but the rape, disgustingly powerful scene, really tied it all together. Her suicide at that point, to me, made a lot more sense and brought it from 'cry for help' to 'severely damaged'.
Anyways, as a series, I felt it was really on point for today's pop culture.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
- 13 Reasons Why:
- Had me invested in the mystery from the start. What could have really happened that led Hannah to her decision. In between, it felt really dragged out most of the times. And I thought wow, nah, she really is just a drama queen, and *bleep* Clay being disillusioned almost all of the time really got on my nerves. And why did they use him staring at people or things for 10 episodes as a transition to their cuts Thought he was such a pussy at times. And that is mainly due to the writing trying to drag this thing out. Worst decision would be if they make a season 2
At the end though they wrapped it up nicely. I don't have big problems with the ending. Of course everything really started to make sense once you knew what happened at those two parties, and you could feel for Hannah. I agree with someone earlier pointing out though that she was very hypocritical at times and didn't take responsibility a lot of times. Like the classic confused girl trope of saying one thing, and expecting someone else to do the opposite.
The suicide depiction was heavy. Expertly done by the actors and filmmakers. Hannah's mum was one of my main irritants throughout, but she was incredible in that scene.
All in all, it's not such a great series, as ratings might suggest. It was very corny at times. I can't deal with high school dramas anymore. I've made a decision to watch less high school movies as well not so long ago, because they just piss me off. But I get why it is popular. Certainly after one of the latter episodes it got me thinking that I was an ass too sometimes in high school. And I even said some terrible things as well sometimes, even if I did apologise and own up to it afterwards. It portrays high school drama accurately in many ways, and how high school students will always act like things in that space and time is do-or-die even when it really isn't, I know I did.

American Crime Story: The People vs OJ Simpson is a great series. It is better than every season of American Horror Story and this is coming from someone that loved Murder House and Asylum. Outstanding acting from the main cast and quite faithful to real life events.

Can you recommend any drama+mystery+horror kinda shows? I've just finished up BatesMotel and I feel like I do not have a reason to live anymore, just like after any good series ends

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
I like the looks of Fringe and i'll be on it definitely but AHS looks like a typical horror which is not the type i'm looking for right now. A psychological type of thriller/horror is what I'm after atm
OMG I hate this feeling of a void left after I finish a great TV series.

Everybody goes through that. If the show is good we're inevitably attached to the characters and story. It's almost like a healing process. Takes a few days to get better.
Best approach is start something new. The hardest part about starting something new is finding what to watch
Fringe is definitely your best bet. It's one of my favorite shows of all time. I have never met anyone who didn't like it after finishing season. You are hooked after season 1 but you have to stick to it. It starts episodic and then becomes serialized by like episode 12-13 in season 1 and you start learning more and more about the main story.

You (and everyone else) should try Fortitude. It's a great show and there are two seasons already (though I haven't seen the second one).
