It honestly it all matches up, open world game set to release in September and a sequel to an exisiting global franchise ( i can't think of another old west game that's a global franchise lol)

I imagine it's filming for an upcoming trailer, also means that it's not likely to be delayed.

Knew it would be delayed, but with Rockstar you know it's a good thing, like RG pointed out. Not too disappointed since I was just waiting for this to happen.

I honestly doubt it would have been GOTY if it released this year tbh

also an 8 year gap between games is inexcusable IMO

I was optimistic it would be out this October at the latest

RDR is the default GOTY no matter when it releases.

Agreed that the gap is a bit ridiculous though, but I'm just excited for it to be out next year. If there is ANOTHER delay (which definitely could happen) I'll be quite annoyed/angry though.

After what I have played this year I'm not so sure.


It would have had to have been a generational defining experience to be GOTY.

Also we don't know what else is being released next year to definitely say it would definitely be GOTY next year.

Rockstar are Rockstar but the open world genre has taken absolutely massive leaps since their last game.

nah RDR would have had unreal compeition this year, Zelda, Persona 5, Horizon and Fifa 18

was certainly not guaranteed, I think Zelda will end up being the GOTY for most publications

Mario is coming out at the end of the year too, no matter what we all think it will be GOTY to a lot of voters as well.

This year has been absolutely stacked, it's by no means a sure thing.

Tbf I'm basing that on my own experience and expectations. RDR is my favorite game of all time probably, only behind FIFA 2004. To me it definitely would have been game of the year. I also think it would be good enough in general to be game of the year though

But this is probably because I don't play videogames much if at all anymore tbh

That's fair tbh, it's up there with one of mine as well. Was my favourite game of last gen i would say.

Until GTA V the enhanced version (to which has an obvious hardware and time advantage) I considered Read Dead Redemption by far the best open world sandbox of all time and in the last gen definitely surpassed GTA V (last gen). The sheer atmosphere of being alone in a desert in a twilight sunset with the errie Old West minimalistic music playing or the unforgettable ride to Mexico with that song had me confirm along with Max Payne 3 (also a Rockstar game) that games have actually surpassed films in cinematic quality.

It was technically a perfect game and none of us expected it to blow us away as it did. Utterly ridiculous video game and Marston better than any character in Rockstar history bar Max Payne.

RDR 2 will blow us away given on an enhanced version of a last gen game GTA V is almost unbelievable at times and the ceiling that will be reached given this current gen spec with the RDR 2 is bound to have us more pensive gamers stand in the middle of a field and experience the aura that the game undoubtedly will fixate upon.

Definitely one of my favorite moments in gaming history.

Brilliant from Rockstar to have Jose Gonzalez create the song. Brilliant artist with the perfect voice for this sort of thing.

Well said, the only reason i said it wasn't a fullgone conclusion is because of the quality of games that has come this year and might come out next year.

But RDR was without a doubt a masterpiece and see little reason to suggest that this won't be either.

I think the fact it's the first Rockstar game made for current gen hardware is a poignant point, as good as GTA looks at the end of the day it was initially made last gen hardware.

I expect it to look ridiculous, hell the screenshots posted in the link on the previous page says enough as it is.

Speaking of Max Payne, if there's one major negative i have with GTA 5 it's the gunplay is very weak compared to quite a lot of action games and even Red Dead Redemption itself.

If they can somehow apply the gunplay from Max Payne( probably the best gunplay i can recall in any 3rd person action game) in RDR2 that would be amazing.

Rockstar should have just announced it this year.

I genuinely think they thought they were going to hit the end of 2017 tbh.

The fact there's a trailer coming in this week makes me believe the current date of Spring is going to be hit though.

If they didn't have any announcements very soon i would have started to worry.
