Who do you build around, Neymar or Mbappe?

Mbappe is an amazing talent but let's not act completely stupid here
Right now Neymar is much, much, MUCH better than Mbappe. You don't have to like Neymar to acknowledge how ridiculously good he is. He's not just a random world class attacker.

it happens for all phenoms.  Barca did the same thing when R9 came in and became a sensation.  It's not the player forcing things... it's the club/manager realizing that they need to make the move in that direction.

So PSG is at a decision point where they need to decide whether Neymar or Mbappe becomes the building block.  Or one accepts to take a back seat... which won't happen.

Mbappe is younger, more professional, FRENCH (which counts a lot at PSG) and with a higher ceiling.  I'm suggesting that the choice is pretty darn simple.  So Neymar has to accept it or move on.

And why do you think Neymar left Barca?

Getting completely out of hand. Neymar is twice the player Mbappe is right now AND he's just in his mid 20s no team is insane enough to force freaking NEYMAR out of a team to build around a teenager.

Mbappe EATS Neymar for lunch both in terms of talent but mostly IQ... Neymar still has trouble figuring out his shoelaces in the morning.

The times Neymar just forces things to show off and loses the ball is beyond count.  Take a risk... sure. When it makes sense or you are asked to do it. But Neymar just wanted to twitter followers.... nothing to do about helping the team. Not to mention he's a shit professional.

Read the posts again. I sleep from 12 pm to 8 am, not from 2000 to 2010.

Etoo left when Messi was 21 and Iba when he was 23. Ronaldo was 22/23 at that time in Manchester. Neymar was at Santos, not at a star studded PSG or at Barca. Or are you suggesting that outshining Allen Kardec is the same as displacing a proven superstar. When he moved to Barca he certainly played well with Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and Suarez and moved at 25.

Why the hell are PSG at a decision point? must the ego of Mbappe be so large that at 19 yo he cannot play with a much better player who doesn't even intrude in his playing style? The two of them don't even share the same space of the pitch. You were here telling us how they were a match made in heaven a few months ago.

Nothing about how he plays says that PSG needs to sacrifice virgins to an altar to make him work well. He, and Neymar, are much easier players to accommodate than CR or Messi.

It's not about Mbappe himself. I'm suggesting that France and the media in France are going to demand PSG to feature him. And PSG's long term interest is to make Mbappe as happy and loved as possible.

I also take into account the fact that Neymar won't accept sharing the spotlight.

What Mbappe did in this world cup is so much easier than anyone Neymar has had to deal with since his first world cup in brazil.A whole country expect neymar to single-handily deliver the world cup to them. He gets triple teamed every game and every tackle on him is like a bouncer trying to get someone out of the club. Whether you disagree with the way he rolls or not, you are naive if you can't see how savage people are when they tackle neymar.

Mbappe, gets to hide with his team, 0 expectation, 0 pressure, he has had some excellent moments, but he can afford not to be seen. and then he waits for the perfect counter to show his quality. What he has done with his chances, at his age is exceptional, i can't take that away from him.

But overall, Neymar is, and continues to be a much superior player to Mbappe. Neymar does everything from dribbling, scoring, playmaking, assisting, creating etc... his game is by far the most complete after Messi for an attacker. compared to Mbappe who right now plays one note, which is playing on the counter with open space.

Mbappe could achieve more than Neymar in his career, and in te eyes of many he will be called better but the way i see things, Neymar is much better individually speaking. In september, it's gonna be the Neymar show again, him just effortlessly murking every team in ligue 1. Mbappe better sit and learn the same way nerman did with messi

zero pressure and expectations on Mbappe??? You must be joking.  The attack for France was entirely predicated on sending the ball to Mbappe and him making the difference individually.  He was HACKED in every game (or they tried).  He had to make with few balls because of how France set up.  He was constantly in 1v2 or 1v3 situations.  

Neymar has the ball with Marcelo supporting him... Coutinho, Gabriel Jesus, Firmino, Willian, etc. to balance him out.  His problem is that he's obsessed with being the star as opposed to putting himself to the service of the team and allow stardom to come to him as a result of team success. IT's the manager's fault for not creating better team tactics too... but i get the feeling that it's because Neymar wouldn't accept it.

Nerman is a showboater, ball hogger. diver, timewaster etc, No way I want a system to be dependent on him.

Mbappe is a pace merchant who works only on counters as of now, I don't see much in his game to build a system around him.

I would rather have Mbappe in my team than Nerman even though Nerman is a better player as of now tbh

Mbappe is FAR too one dimensional to be compared to Neymar, let alone Messi. Ronaldo is pretty one dimensional now too but he's ten times as good at that one dimension as Mbappe.

Like Nick said, Mbappe is being overrated because the expectations were much lower for him as a 19 year old than they were for Messi/Ronaldo/Neymar AND he had an insanely good team that was perfectly set up for him. Switch Mbappe and Neymar and Brazil would still flop whereas France would be much better.

It may be true that Mbappe has a higher ceiling but there's absolutely no way to know how he'll develop at 19. Many people have looked just as good and then flopped because they didn't develop as expected.

Mbappe played the entire WC semi and final with 3 strained vertebrae in his back. I could tell he was a touch slower and couldn't get too creative. Pretty crazy he was as effective as he was.

As always with young players it can be hard to accurately tell their future. However, I can't see him on the same plane as Messi. Maybe Ronaldo, maybe.

The hype here is unreal who's never scored over 30 goals in one season. The kid is legit but it's so hard to predict what's next for a young player. If he reaches Neymar level, that's amazing. But I doubt he will reach CR and Messi level

And Messi was hyped as the next Ronaldinho despite achieving far less than Mbappe at the same age... and CR was hyped as the heir to Figo actually at that age.

And numpties need to realize that Mbappe is playing on the right and is more of a playmaker/winger right now than a scorer. He would have had 3-4 assists in the WC if Giroud wasn't completely useless with his shots. Once he becomes featured as a scorer, which he still won't with Cavani and Neymar, he'll score 30-40 no problem. He did score 24 goals in 23 starts with Monaco the year before... when he was featured as a scorer.

So yeah, he is killing it.
