Arsene and this Ramsey-Coquelin pairing which nevers works Laughing

We have been completely outplayed, Arsene got his approach and line up all wrong. Lucky to be level to be honest, we didn't even have a shot on target until then Laughing

Ramsey is a wonderful player who does NOT fit into any existing role or system at Arsenal.

Sell him for 60m and spend that on an actual winger. Promote Elneny and Xhaka to the first team. If Jack comes back fit, we would even manage to pull that off.

You know what. I am not even mad that we are messing this up.

It's a relief to see Wenger make proactive and attacking changes to try and win the tie.

So PSG now top the group because of head-to-head.

Another fortunate result tbh. Played very badly (again) in the first half and was dominated. Found some energy and intensity in the second half and got ahead, but never looked comfortable defending. Gave up so many chances to Cavani. Shit defending on that corner as well.

Oh well. Easier games coming up now, so we can return to being flat track bullies.

The last three games have yielded just four shots on target - two were own goals and one was a penalty rofl

Have a feeling our big game record this year is going to be awful. Feels like we haven't got it right in any of them.

Tbf even if we won the group, as it stands, our possible opponents would be:

Benfica
Bayern
Leverkusen
Real Madrid
Porto
Sevilla

Slightly easier alternatives in some but Real and Bayern are still lurking.

We're going to get a difficult draw no matter where we finish. All the best teams in Europe are going through.

Even Benfica and Porto would be very tough for us, given how poor we are tactically.

Anyway on Mustafi - I've said it before, but so far he and Koscielny have no relationship. They play individually. On Cavani's goal for some reason Mustafi was two yards ahead of Koscielny and didn't even seem aware Matuidi was running off him.

My impression of him so far is that he's better when he's behind the forward where he can get tight and bully players. But when players run off him he falls asleep. He gets caught ball watching. And Koscielny isn't coming across to bail him out either at the moment so these mistakes are very noticeable.

Our defending as a team was poor tonight as well. PSG's midfield sat deep and found it easy to build up play. We sat back and didn't engage them enough. Iwobi kept getting sucked into the middle because one of PSG's mids were step up into the space between our LW and LCM, so Meunier was usually free on the overlap every time.

Looking at our various midfield set-ups it feels like we need an extra CM in these games. But I don't know how we'd get one it without requiring Ozil to track back on the flanks.

Makes no sense to even start talking about Mustafi or Koscielny doing anything wrong for that first goal, when you look at the PSG midfielder being able to pick the splitting pass in complete peace without any Arsenal midfield player getting as close as 10 yards to him for several seconds.

Our tempo play is laughable tbh, we couldn't control the pace, just gun ho and chicken head running around, the defense was exposed constantly. Everyone hits bad form at the same time and Ramsey slowly turning to 1 season wonder, Santi is so important, replacement for him is 1st priority, we struggling to find any midfield combo that works or at least has some control.

Ramsey actually had a very good match, not so much with the ball but in terms of pressing and winning the ball back. He won a lot of tackles in the middle and high up the pitch when we were pressing.

Still, we do need Cazorla or even Xhaka in there if we want any chance of controlling the ball in midfield. No combination of Coquelin, Ramsey and Elneny can do that.
