Apparently Cronaldo has dodged 150 million euros in tax havens in image rights through an Irish company. Messi got 2 years jail for 4.1 million. Lets see how much Cronaldo will get. hmm

On Spiegel tomorrow.

My body is ready.

Sport is saying Hacienda knew Cronaldo was evading taxes but kept it secret. They started investigation a year ago.

Holy hell. Suspect

Hopefully they uncover the obvious corruption between Spanish IRS, justice system, and Perez co.

Sport Witness sheds some light on this

https://twitter.com/Sport_Witness

"There's no accusations of law breaking. Gestifute say Ronaldo has at 'all times fully fulfilled obligations to the Spanish tax authorities.'"

On Ozil especially, unless there's anything else, it doesn't appear to be the big smoking gun presented.

On Ronaldo, the figures are huge, but there's no allegation of law breaking. Just perhaps annoying, albeit legal, tax avoidance.

Ronaldo reportedly faces investigation for tax evasion: What to know about it
Could Ronaldo be in a bit of trouble?

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is facing a tax evasion investigation, according to AFP. The report says Ronaldo and other big names in world soccer, like Arsenal's Mesut Ozil, have benefited from tax havens, with the player reportedly being a system set up by agent Jorge Mendes. Here's what you need to know about Ronaldo's situation.
What happened?

According to 12 different European newspapers who accessed leaked documents, Ronaldo, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and others have allegedly hidden millions of euros in tax havens. Ronaldo's alleged tax havens are in Switzerland and the British Virgin Islands.

The funds are alleged to have come from sponsorship deals and image rights, and Ronaldo reportedly has only paid taxes on these sponsorship payments at a rate of four percent.

This is kind of reminiscent of what Lionel Messi went through in April.
What does this mean?

It means that Ronaldo is being accused of using tax havens to avoid paying taxes, and he could get into a bit of trouble. That would likely just be a really hefty fine and backed taxes, but we will have to see. Marcasays Spanish tax authorities will investigate and he could owe up to 43.5 percent tax on earnings believed to be just north of $150 million. Ronaldo could owe close to $70 million.

What is Ronaldo's camp saying about it?

Nothing yet from Ronaldo himself, but Marca quoted an official spokesperson.

"An official spokesperson from Ronaldo's camp has stated that the player has been aware of his tax obligations since beginning his career, is not currently and has never been in trouble with the treasury, and manages his image rights according to current legislation."

We'll see what comes of this in the coming months.

Yeah only Barcelona players are criminals, meantime Madrid players enjoy judicial bias funded by Perez regime. Hopefully this is be so big that EU will uncover the most obvious corruption and bias in Spain. They don't have to look far when even the judges are former Real Madrid board members.  Laughing

I already see Perez/Real Madrid mouthpieces like goal.com covering Fraudnaldo like scared pigs.

Some general info on football-leaks:

- 10 european respected news-agencies has gotten access to the enormous database of leaks.
- Over the next 3 weeks, more articles will be published
- Der SPIEGEL got two hard drives (1.9 terabyte of date) from Football Leaks (more specifically: The man who calls himself 'John') directly.
- The owner of Football-leaks, who goes by the synonym "John" apparently is living a life on the run, staying only a few nights each place before moving on. Big interests involved surely.

Media outlets involved in the investigative network:

   Le Soir (Belgium)
   Politiken (Denmark)
   Sunday Times (UK)
   Mediapart (France)
   L'Espresso (Italy)
   NRC Handelsblad (The Netherlands)
   Falter (Austria)
   Expresso (Portugal)
   RCIJ, "The Black Sea" (Romania)
   Newsweek Srbija (Serbia)

While it's true that Messi and Neymar are most likely the worst of the bunch that doesn't mean it's not disgusting behaviour. But I'll need to actually read the stuff before I judge.

From Marca. Seems like Mundo just tried to destabilise us before the game

Notwithstanding what has recently been published, the Spanish tax government agency considers Cristiano Ronaldo up to date with his fiscal obligations.

The EIC [European Investigative Collaborations] published information asserting high profile players such as Ronaldo or Mesut Ozil would have used societies based in tax havens in order to avoid paying vast sums in Spain.

In response, Gestifute, Jorge Mendes' management company, released on Saturday a certificate originally issued by the Spanish entity that clears the Portuguese from tax fraud accusations.

"The State Agency of Tax Administration certifies that the aforementioned solicitor [Ronaldo] is up to date with his fiscal obligations according to article 74.1 of the General Regulations approved on July 27, 2007," says the document.

The statement remarks its 12-month validity from November 30, 2016, the date when it was issued, barring changes in specific regulations.

"This certificate has been issued with the exclusive purpose listed above, not generating any rights or expectation of rights for the solicitor nor for a third party."

http://as.com/m/diarioas/2015/03/09/english/1425936114_172645.html

Ignacio Ruiz Jarabo, former head of Spain’s tax authorities, said the Real Madrid boss warned he would “shut down the league” if tax inspections into professional clubs continued.

Ignacio Ruiz Jarabo, head of the Spanish tax authorities between 1998 and 2001, gave an interview to Radio Barcelona (part of the Cadena SER group, and nothing to do with the club) in which he made some surprising revelations.

Tell us about the tax investigations into the football clubs...

We decided to investigate the affairs of the clubs and we decided that in a sector like professional football, where the competition is so fierce, we had to carry it out on all the clubs at the same time. We couldn’t carry out an inspection on just some clubs and so we set up a tax investigation on all the professional clubs, to be carried out in a harmonised manner, with unified criteria.

Once the investigations had started, the clubs saw that we were serious and that the criteria were co-ordinated and were set to a calendar. We got reliable news that the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, had asked the Treasury Minister to stop the inspections. It was a demand and he warned that if they didn’t pay attention to his demands he’d stop the competition [the league].

At the tax authorities we didn’t stop the investigations, we don’t investigate tax payers according to what they want, but according to our criteria”.

Were you pressured?

It seems that Florentino didn’t express himself in the most polite way, according to a number of witnesses. At the tax authorities there were some people who agreed with him, but I think the good think for the Spanish taxpayer is that he didn't get his way. The investigations carried on, and the League wasn’t stopped.

What did you think about it?

I think the presidents (Lopera, Gil, Florentino) thought they could do what they wanted. They overestimated their capacity to influence things in an institution like the tax authorities. It’s even funny to see what they wanted and how they demanded it. I can guarantee that no civil servant paid any attention to his demands.
