I was just about to say the scenario RG described wouldn't apply to jobs in the manufacturing industry or something in construction, etc. And of course tech support. I think that scenario is for certain desk jobs where there isn't that much pressure to deliver on an hour to hour basis or by the end of the work day.

I like the sound of a 6 hour work day but it just seems unrealistic to me.

On a mostly unrelated note, I'm *bleep* scared shitless that in 20 years, another 30-40% of jobs that exist now will be lost to robots and we aren't doing anything to plan for it. No one is doing anything. It's a disaster waiting to happen and will affect politics too.

Anyway, I won't even be around to vote so it saves me the headache. But if I was, I might have voted Green. May is smart. She knew if this waited until 2020 Tories would have been wiped out. Instead, it's the opposite now. I'm a little grateful. At least Corbyn gets to *bleep* off after the election.

No Brexit U-turn by Labour. Good decision.

Lib-Dems on the other hand are going all in for a brexit U-turn. Interesting tbh.

Labour wants four new bank holidays.

The Conservatives are reportedly planning to limit the gas and electricity bills of 20 million people on standard variable tariffs if they are returned to office. Under the proposals, energy regulator Ofgem would cap the deals, which are among the most expensive offered by suppliers

Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron has ruled out a coalition with either Labour or the Conservatives. He told the Observer: "We will not be doing any king of deal, any kind of coalition, any kind of arrangement."

The UK Independence Party is expected to pledge a ban on the full-face veils worn by some Muslim women in its manifesto on Monday.

There is a lot to read on labour party. What exactly are you after? Their current manifesto or their history?

Basically what's happening around in recent times.

Manifesto is too narrow and history way too big.

I'm interested about issues, crisis, leadership, tactics of recent years that have (or haven't) shaped them.

So Labor Party was a divided house between Blair and Brown camps. This allowed Corbyn to win the leadership in 2015 and now B-B supporters (who apparently control the party bureaucracy) don't like him but can't get rid of him (as he apparently enjoys grass-root support) either.

So all three (or is it two now?) camps are collectively trying their best to shoot themselves in head in the upcoming election, in the hope that it will remove the other.

Have I got it right???

ib Dem membership has passed the 100,000 mark following a surge of new joiners since Theresa May announced a snap general election.

The party said it has signed up 12,500 new members since last week - and is expected to reach its highest total in its history "within days".

The biggest membership number the Lib Dems have had since their formation was 101,768 members in 1994.

-----------

Didn't expect that to happen.

They're ultra pro-Eu so they're luring remainers from every camp.

I look at labours ideas like more tax on the mega rich, £10 an hour living wage by 2020 etc and think hmm, yeah. Then Corbyn starts talking about taking zero action on terrorists, cancelling our nuclear deterrent programme and all this love hug bullshit and I could never vote for him

Yep. Good strategy. Already gaining a bit of popularity back from the 18-30 crowd. I think they'll use these elections to get back in the picture and then try to do something significant in the next GE.

Really like their privacy policy.

Lib dems would have the millenial crowd if they didn't talk shit about tuition fees then wind up tripling them. Morons.

Have strong dislike for the main 3 parties here, actually leaning towards *bleep* labour because they'll follow up with scrapping uni fees or risk never getting into office again in their lifetimes.

Not loving the idea that our PM wouldn't nuke a country if we were getting nuked though. That's hilarious.

The Liberal Democrats have put a second EU referendum at the heart of their general election manifesto, saying it would "give the final say to the British people".

The vote on the final Brexit deal would include an option to remain in the EU.

The Lib Dems also say they could generate £1bn from legalising and taxing cannabis.

And they are offering pledges to young people, including bus passes and help to get on the housing ladder.

Hope Lib Dems are wiped off the map, promised lots of stuff to young people, helped triple cost of Universities.

If you outright lie and do the opposite of what you pledge, it should be a criminal offence ffs Laughing

I'm not sure how they're appealing to anybody but die hards and people making 6 figure salaries at this point in time.

Even if Labour only deliver on 1/4 of what they promise they'd still be more appealing than conservatives delivering on 100% of their manifesto (Which they won't)
