Lars and the Real Girl
A heartwarming film. Cute, and well written with another vintage Gosling performance. I thought Emily Mortimer was great as well. Very unique; and while not as funny as I hoped, I put that down to the fact that I came in thinking it was kind of a rom com that takes itself more seriously than others when it was more of a romantic drama tbh.
Also saw Perks of being a Wallflower recently and thought it was alright. Good film for teenagers but didn't think it was quite my cup of tea. I didn't think it was a bad film at all, but I didn't find the main characters depiction of anxiety quite nearly as real as say Gosling in Lars and the Real Girl, where it was a lot more clear what high levels of anxiety can do to a person. The main character in Perks apparently had social anxiety but this only manifests itself in the first 10 minutes or so, after that he's way more social than I ever was in high school, and I've never suffered from any anxiety problems (which is why my take on such a thing should be taken with a pinch of salt).
Now school's finished for the semester, I'll probably be pretty active with my movie watching.

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
I don't think anxiety was his problem tbh (Perks). I just considered him introvert. There was some dark reasons behind that introvertness though.
He reminds a lot of my own way of being social in high school. I started off very introvert and once I got comfortable I turned very extrovert. I was never

LARG has one of the most beautiful and satisfying climaxes I have ever seen in movies I believe. Incredible. Just incredible, the way they ended that beautiful heart touching tale.
One of my all time fav films. More people needs to watch it tho.
Completely agreeing to your point on Perks. Barring main man Ezra none of the character writings were consistent throughout. It could have been a truly good film had they not tried to veer off from the rules they themselves set in place initially when it started.
And Emma Watson was just off and didnt suit that role I felt. But I can understand the reasons why they picked her.
Still overall I liked the film tho.

Has anyone see Stanford Prison Experiment?
Was curious to watch a bit more of Ezra. I agree with Glory that I really liked his performance.

So A24 bought The Disaster Artist and they're distributing it for awards consideration.
Franco getting an Oscar for this would be the greatest thing ever

I also thought it was quite good. Definitely a bit disturbing but not in any serious sort of way, really the most disturbing part to me was not even the guards themselves but Zimbardo and his associates. Incredible they let it get to the place it did.
I'm glad they went into detail, a couple times, about how poorly planned the "study" was. As a simulation, it's a highly valuable piece of work, actually (although it clearly violated several scientific ethical standards, and Zimbardo is lucky to not have suffered many consequences from it). However, there is nothing "experimental" about it. I can't believe a renowned researcher from Stanford was even allowed to insert himself into the experiment, and I couldn't believe that from the beginning--indeed, it was this fact that lead to it going on longer than it should have imo.
Anyway, it was a pretty good film representation of the experiment as I've read it and I thought the cast of young actors did very well. Crudup in particular, and Ezra were great.
Bit underrated as a film I think. It came out what, within the past year? And I don't think anyone has talked about it. Not that it was an amazing film, but it's a good film and I only remembered it had ever come out because of my recent watching of Perks of being a Wallflower and being curious about Ezra as an actor

Seems like Tom Holland is going to be Nathan Drake.
Movie to based around young Nathan Drake (start of game 3) and Sully.
Sounds great. Don't want a retread

Can't be start of game 3, he was like 13. Holland looks young enough to play a 16 year old but 13 is stretching it. I guess its gonna be like Assassins Creed, different story that is part of the main series canon. Hope it does not suck as much but I'm not optimistic. Sony Pictures are terrible.

Sony aren't that awful. They just haven't been able to make money. Quality wise they're on par with most other studios.

Hidden Figures, wow what a movie, Taraji P. Henson and Kevin Costner stole the show. Probably my 2nd favorite movie from that Oscar batch, 1st being LLL of course.

Worth a watch, You're eager and engaged as to what will happen next every minute.
Story line is great as well. Its very true to what people just 40 years back have faced and lived through. They had to nail that and they've done it excellently.
Kevin Costner was brilliant from start to finish.

Watched John Wick 2 earlier. Lit AF. Love how the series builds a mythos better than any modern Superhero movie.
One of my favorite series after only two movies. Mass murder has never looked so glamorous on the big-screen.
