Can we talk about how *bleep* weak and stupid the show have made Littlefinger. We know this guy never does anything without a specific reason and yet he's showing up in the *bleep* Mole Town in his teleportation devise just to get scolded by Sansa and heck even putting his life in danger. What could he possibly have gained in that conversation other than making himself look like a weakling ass.

Honestly man Book Littlefinger vs Show Littlerfinger are so vastly different, it's insane.

With that said yes I don't get the point with LF showing up just like that. Did he think Sansa would forgive him like that?

Poorly written considering his goat schemes in the past.

Won't be surprised if the blackfish thing is fake and is just to get Brienne killed or something.

Did you even pay attention to the scene? He went there to tell Sansa that the Vale army is riding north to join up against the Boltons.

After Sansa told him that she and Jon will take Winterfell on their own, Littlefinger plants some doubts by saying that Jon has his own fighting men and Sansa needs her own and then suggesting the Tully's which will almost certainly fail which then should make Sansa return to him. He played her in that scene and she doesn't even know it yet.

Yes I know about the vale army coming but surely he did not expect a warm welcome from the girl he sent to the guys that killed her family and raped her?

And then coming alone? That was poor tbh. We've seen LF plans better than today's ep

So has people's perception on Bran changed?

He is the reason that Jojen died, three eyed crow/bloodraven/old tree guy died after living for like 1000 years ffs, CoTF got extinct now pretty much, Hodor lost his entire life and became mentally challenged just for bran's sake and now he is the reason White walkers can go south of the wall

Sounds like a POS tbh hmm

Jojen already knew he was going to die but he went for it anyway so I can't really blame Bran for that.

The Three Eyed Crow should have let Bran know about the consequences than being all vague about it given how curious he was and how significant the implications would be

I am pretty sure the 3 eyed raven knew about all this. I mean all this was about to happen.
And how can Bran get to exactly the midst of the WW in his vision and then also the Raven in addition know about the fact that the NK touched Bran when he woke up. He was watching everything in that vision I assume without Bran realizing it.

If an amateur like Jojen could foresee his death and everything imagine what powers the Raven could actually possess. He wanted it to happen. He wanted the WW to come for Bran. Well not explicitly but something along those lines. So I am firmly of the opinion that it was all part of a bigger plan by the old man.

Post by Firenze Tue May 24, 2016 3:29 pm

I hated Bran's story prior to this season. I'm still not a huge fan of the magical high fantasy elements in GoT, because I think GRRM sucks at it, or at least it's the weakest aspect of the series, very generic stuff (I know he doesn't have too much to do with the show but he laid the groundwork they're working with) I always liked the political scheming far more. That said, Bran's story has been decent this season, mostly due to the flashback stuff. Hope we can get more of that at some point (it's not unique to that place he was in right? he can do that through all weir trees?)

still smh at the White Walker origins though, invented as a weapon by hippie tree elves because the humans were destroying their forests Laughing was hoping for something more mysterious and getting more of the deep ice areas beyond the wall, I have a feeling that will be it for the show though and we'll have no more weird magical stuff/lore on the white walkers, they'll just clash with Jon Snow/Westeros armies eventually now and be defeated. I always thought the show kinda wanted to keep the high fantasy elements to a minimum in the series myself. They've never given it too much shine but didn't want to omit it entirely due to backlash from the fan-base.

Man, I really hope Jorah can find a cure btw. Wonder where he ends up next, don't see it being the end of his story but genuinely have no idea where he will go.

Very much agreed with Firenze, the WW stuff was better left ambiguous, instead we get a 30 second video package on their origin. On the high fantasy stuff, i agree to some degree, in that its a cop out most of the time or for the sake of story progression. Take magic for example, its not mechanical like in other series like Wheel of Time or Stormlight Archive, its more LoTR-esque but even LoTR set boundaries and was mostly from the perspective of hobbits who didnt know better. I'll say that George is better at world building, he's fantastic in getting you interested

Besides the ability to create a great plot, the best thing about GRRM's writing is his characterization (or atleast what it used to be in his first 3 ASOIAF books). Just the sheer amount of love or hate so many people can have for so many of his characters -- even for minor characters like Jaqen H'ghar, Hodor or Oberyn Martell is unreal. The greyness of characters like Jaime, Theon or Catelyn. The absolute HATRED he makes you feel for Joffrey, Ramsay and Walder Frey. It is still my opinion that his characters are his best "thing" as a writer.

However, my opinion for GRRM as a writer has drastically changed after reading A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons. There's a clear decline in the pacing, plot, even characterization (*cough* Tyrion, **cough** Dany). Hopefully he'll make me believe in his work again when (ever) he releases The Winds of Winter but I'm not so optimistic based on the preview chapters that have been released.

I like the magic. Obviously it wasn't the main focus in the beginning as it just came back and growing slowly.

Always knew magic would be the main point towards the end (WW, dragons, warg etc) but in the meantime it was political conflicts that was the focal point but it's nearing it's end.

What I like about magic is that it's not some Harry Potter bs where you can just use it freely and without consequences. Another thing which is my favorite is how not everyone know about the existence about WW, dragons etc.

Will be amazing when everyone realise that all these things are real and not some stories for the children.

Great episode overall but I agree Euron and the lads came across a lot less 'epic' than it should have imo

His banter was on point though, reminded me of drinking with the lads. Ripping Theon for his lack of dick with tactical precision ffs.

But yeah his introduction was absolutely badass, this however was not.

Haven't cared about Arya's story arc in Years, when most people were hyping up the faceless crap I was mostly disinterested. It's just a really long winded training montage taking place over 50000 hours and even STILL we're back to the 'you are not ready' Bullshit. Boring.

By the time she's done there will be nobody left to kill ffs Laughing Hope a dragon burns them all down ASAP. Creepy bastards.

The Bran stuff has been great but I am worried with the introduction to time travel and affecting the past (Although it's already happened so it's not a different timeline) it's going to suck the momentum out of everything else because what he's up to is 50x more important.

What made GoT great for me was the multitude of important stories happening at once but if it's revealed that he's by far and away the most important being in the GoT World then everything else I.E Lannisters, taking back the North etc etc becomes redundant.

Well it was always kinda obvious that you don't have a random kid running through the world for 4 seasons without doing anything of note if there's no bigger role at the end of the road hmm
That said Arya better have an important role to play aswell and not just some Cercei/Walder Frey revenge kill.

Pretty much This.
The detail he puts in is honestly an unbelievable feat. Only someone who is so talented can have this much range and still have control over what he is writing.
Take for eg, this Hodor Hold the door arc. This guy started writing the first book like 25 years ago. And we have seen Hodor from the very beginning, from the 1st book onwards. And here we are in 2016 learning what the name Hodor meant. So he had it planned in 1991 itself.

It is fiction writing at its absolute pinnacle. The amount of research he puts in into characters, to each of theirs individual stories. I dont think theres anyone else in the world in modern literature who has done this or who can do this in the grand scale GRRM comes up with. Hats off.

Surprised to see season 5 so low on ratings. it wasn't the worst season imo, season 2 was weaker.

3>4>1>5>2

Wouldn't judge season 6 until every episode comes out but it's between season 3 and 4 so far.
