Might not be the most popular opinion amongst the fans or the management, but Fabregas is available. I think this is one of the viable options we have out there when you consider his price tag and (probably) his willingness to come and play for a Europa level team.

You know, as a potential Ozil replacement then maybe.
But when we've got Xhaka and Ozil in the team, there's nothing Fabregas adds.

I have not seen much of chelsea-cesc but didn't he play as a deep lying playmaker for them? I am sure he could be deployed as one at Arsenal.
His lack of international commitment would also be an asset when we have to fill in for :
a. Players going out on international duty
b. The inevitable injuries of our key players suffer throughout the course of the season.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Cesc would not be a very good partner for Xhaka and Xhaka already does the through balls and defense splitting passes like prime Cesc used to. He is just not needed in our team.
What we need in midfield is a box to box midfielder who can cover Xhaka defensively while also contribute somewhat in attack.
Ramsey really is the ideal partner if his injuries go away and allow him to perform more consistently. That's the platform we should be looking for. We need a Kante, Nainggolan, Vidal kind of player to partner Xhaka.

Reliable Russian journalist @KazakovIlya1 confirmed that Arsenal will buy Aleksandr Golovin and then will loan him back to CSKA.

This source much more credible than Sports.ru. Looks like this might actually happen. Exciting move for Russian football. #Golovin

Don't see much point of loaning him back to Russia. He should be playing at a higher level.

We make some extremely useless signings, I expect this to go no different than Takuma Asano.

Diario Gol | Arsenal are keen on Kovacic but face strong competition from Spurs, AC/Inter Milan and Roma.

Thomas Lemar is unsure of his future because of interest from Arsenal
AS Monaco attacking midfielder Thomas Lemar is unsure of his future this summer especially because of interest from Arsenal, according to L’Équipe.
Lemar has three years left on his current contract but has yet to seek to extend it this summer because of interest from Arsène Wenger’s Gunners. It must be noted that there is no indication that the North London side have made any move other than showing interest at this stage.

Arsenal are the club that's in the most advanced talks for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette at this stage, according to tomorrow's L'Équipe.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Arsene preferred Vardy to him last summer
now going to pay big for Lacazette?
after needing to buy a top forward for 5 years
what has changed?
seems to me like he is trying to get best players he can(Lacaz and Lemar if reports are to be believed) rather than having proper plans for improving on what we had ,which is what he initially said at the end of the season
not like we haven't seen this before
would you like this to be like summer of 2011 or 2012?pick your poison

Wenger preferred Vardy because he would only cost 20m as opposed to Lyon's asking price of 40m+.
Anyway Lacazette is nothing to scoff at, Atletico Madrid who are well known for having top strikers were prepared to replace Griezmann with Lacazette before the ban blocked the move.
Lacazette combines speed and good finishing in a very efficient way, combined with Alexis and Ozil (if we manage to keep them) that's a strong attack to have.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I was thinking about what else to expect this summer. We've got Kolasinac, so that area is checked off. It appears we aren't going to see a new senior GK come in and we'll instead make a little cash from selling off Szczesny and Ospina. Let's hope Martinez as deputy is a good idea! The club are clearly looking at midfielders (Goretzka, Fornals, Kovacic, Lemina, etc rumors), and strikers (Laca, Mbappe). No murmurs about any new central defenders or tricky playmakers.
Then there are reports about Lemar, and AS just said Carrasco could be a target if Alexis goes. (I actually predicted press would make noise about Carrasco-to-Arsenal a few months ago!) I feel like these are "if" targets -- that is, IF Alexis gets sold.
I hope that Alexis stays, even if it means running down his contract, and that we can get good players in midfield and up top. That'd be three signings, which is what Wenger indicated was his "maximum" transfer activity.
But does anyone else find it strange that we're not really linked to any RBs? With Debuchy and Jenkinson on their way out, and Ox still considered a long-term central midfield player, we'll need someone to deputize for Bellerin. I'm surprised we're not hearing mumbles about "Wenger admires Kardsdorp" or "Arsenal looking to poach Ligue 2 right-back."
