Mathieu Debuchy- contract up?
Per Mertesacker- Will retire
Laurent Koscielny- Will leave
Alexis Sánchez- contract up
Jack Wilshere- contract up
Mesut Özil- contract up

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I suspect most of those guys will stay, except for Debuchy who we want out, Wilshere if he's made no impact (which won't be an issue), and Alexis.
I think that next summer will be about getting a CB, CM and winger in. Losing additional players would complicate things though.

Yay we'll go back to him next year, when he's worth €200 million, bid 1/4 of that, get laughed out of the transfer window and claim that "hey, we tried!"

Interesting stuff from Ornstein:

Further supports our hypotheses that the club is a right royal mess in terms of strategy and management.
I do not blame Ox one bit in this. I think he was very wise and well advised to jump ship to a better manager (in the current context, not historically speaking and looking at achievements a decade ago) even if it involved a pay cut. Lad has his priorities in order, at a time when there are people who would rather earn tons to not play a single game and/or moving to Chinese league for money etc.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I feel that even if the club were in a healthy situation, Chamberlain probably would have left. Sometimes it just doesn't work out and it was clear that things had gone stale for him at Arsenal.
It's sad how short-sighted and reactionary the club has become, though. We're spending so much time bumbling around with what's going on now that things that'll happen in a year or two are being ignored. You know, stuff like player contracts running down, or players sitting around not playing and losing value.

It's very clear Arsenal have no contingencies in place if our plan A doesn't work in the transfer window... And our plan A isn't even all that good to begin with.

Ivan Gazidis'At the end of the window, reviewing all activity, we have once again improved the depth and quality of the squad,' Gazidis wrote in an email sent to players and staff on Friday via the Daily Star.
'Everything is coloured by results... a positive performance at Liverpool would have coloured this transfer window very differently,' he continued.
'We have had a poor start to the season but have the quality to turn it around and turn around performances and compete for the title'.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
What a sad state of affairs.
Feels like it's a common theme where we are all disheartened a week or so into the season and we all know what a mediocre season it's going to be.
Just read that Mustafi, Bellerin, Sanchez all wanted out. Rest of the players show no passion for the club. How did it all come to this?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
As shit as the results and the football will be in the next two years, I'm actually relieved. Sure we will suck, we will finish somewhere in the midtable, we will be embarrassed by many teams but in the end (after two years) it will be worth it because the board will have no choice but to move Wenger on.
Maybe that's the plan all along, Arsenal's time has come. Like Constantinople or Rome before it, Arsenal has become a breeding ground for suffering and injustice. It is beyond saving and must be allowed to die. Gotham, I mean Arsenal... must be destroyed.
Arsene Wenger = Ra's al Ghul.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
At this point, is Arsene really the problem? Board's financial dealings in everything have been woeful ever since the Emirates move. Sponsorship deals, transfers, contracts etc. At no point in the last 10 years we made the right choice.
Either we pin this all on Arsene and say he controlled the club and it's all on him or we blame everyone involved and hope they all get replaced. If it's the former then at least we'll find out in 2 years if anything changes. if it's the latter then we hope Kroenke sells his shares and gtfo.

All from Wenger to the board and owner are the problem. Wenger is an outdated manager and should be held accountable for the problems in the football pitch while the board and owner should be blamed for keeping up with him and accepting mediocrity.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Blaming the commercial deals in hindsight does not excuse the shit that has been put out on the pitch in the last 3-4 years. And no FA Cups can change that.
This was a manager who accomplished a lot more with a lot less. That just shows how much he has fallen now, when he has considerably more resources than in the past.
It's easy to look at what bazillions others are spending and cry about our comparative lack of resources. That has been the case since we chose to build the stadium. That doesn't matter, because with a good manager, we would still have accomplished shitloads more with this squad.
Its not a bad squad, far from it in fact. Just that the players have been pathetically coached for years now (eg. Brit core - good talents when signed, crap now). The irony is that this is a manager who had been renowned for his ability to mould youth and unknowns into superstars

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/09/05/manchester-city-will-offload-raheem-sterling-say-premier-league/
hope this happens in jan
Realistically, it could only be a two-horse race between Arsenal and Chelsea if Sterling were made available by City in the next 12 months.
Arsenal could well enquire about Sterling again in the New Year if City make a new bid to try to sign Sanchez in the January transfer window.
City would not sell to Manchester United, while the player could not return to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur could not afford his transfer fee or wages.
hope this happens in jan

Wenger: "I love my players.... we want our fans behind our team. They can go to a quick conclusion or stand behind the team."
Wenger blames the media for supporters' frustration towards #afc: "You work very hard to get the fans on our back."

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
That's good news. Negotiations took an age with Law in charge. Hopefully whoever the new guy who is will do a better job.
Interestingly, Ivan Gazidis has moved into an office at London Colney. Could suggest he's going to be more involved with the football side of things at the club.
