I think I misworded that. What I meant is that morata and alegiri weren't as close, but conte is a bigger fan of morata and would've given him the playtime he needed

What playtime did Morata need? Lets not rewrite history. Allegri gave him waaaaaaay too much time. Much, much, more than he deserved in the hopes for him to perform.

How can we forget Morata going until February with only 1 goal in the league. That's 19 league games he played and scored only 1 goal. That was in his second season too, after he was supposed to have adapted.

Here’s an up to date comparison of Benz to everyone that has been pushed aside to allow him liberty of being top striker at Madrid.
Source (AS) https://en.as.com/en/2017/11/06/football/1509976278_277979.html
Goals by season for the six strikers
               11-12 12-13 13-14 14-15 15-16 16-17 17-18
Benzema      32      21      24      22     28      19       2
Higuaín        26      18       24     30      38      32      9
Adebayor     18        8       14       2        1       7       4
Chicharito                                   9      26      13       4
Morata                   2*         9    15      12      20       8
Mariano                                                         5       9
Source: Transfermarkt and Ligue 1.

In black, the season that coincided with Benzema at Real Madrid.

*Morata was a Castilla player in 2012-13 and played 15 times with the first team.

Edit - chart difficult to read here, check out AS page for proper reading.
Bottom line, this year Benzema 2 goals, Higuain 9, Adebayor 7, Chicharito 4, Morata 8 and Mariano 9.

You would swear that Benzema is some 36 year old veteran striker whose glory days are far behind him. The man is 29, in his playing prime and could barely do anything correct.

It is so bad, Alcacer has more goals than him in the league. Hell, old man Joaquin has more goals.

Some players age differently than others, It's most bizarre that Benz of all players is falling off at this early of an age. He doesn't really utilize pace or quickness. For him it is more about link-up play and positioning, which are not all pace oriented. For him, he has just mentally shit the bed. Zero confidence.

its not really about age with footballers, it is also about millage. a lot of them start young, and those who play at the top level as starters are likely to start facing wear and tear as early as 26 even.

It's nothing physical with Benzema... in fact, he's dribbling more the past 2 years than I have seen in a long time.

It's as if he stopped practicing shooting and scoring. He doesn't make moves to set his shot up. His first instinct is to pass it off. Very strange.

His mentality is shot. We all know what he's capable of on his day, but he's been pure trash. He needs a fresh start somewhere, or he needs to get benched. We haven't seen him have competition, I don't care if it's mayoral he just needs a kick up the ass

he is passing first because he is a victim of the praise his fans have given to him. when we signed him he wud beat players 1 on 1, which was one of the reasons he was compared to his idol ronaldo. but the praise of his build up play has totally dictated how he plays, so when he gets the ball he looks to pass and move, which works when attacking on the break, not necessarily against stubborn sides. he got too used to this whole build up,1-2 thing, seems to have forgotten about the individuality/necessary selfishness that a striker at times needs

as far as misses, he's always missed chances, they are more pronounced now, cos we may not be creating as many. i personally feel over the course of a full season, we haven't seen the lyon benzema. someone made a joke last season or early this season on here that he peaked at lyon......it was supposed to be a joke, but there's a lot of truth to it

sounds like something i said, but it's not a joke, if you think about it, Benzema was never better than those years at Lyon. he started bulking up in madrid and lost all his speed
