Re: The Bundesliga Thread 17/18
Bibi refereed the Stuttgart game, I guess that is kind of exciting, though even that is old news now.
no change in the scores. I am going to say a must win for Werder now inthe great Nordderby

I guess three points is all that matters, but terrible game and ugly goal gives Werder the 3 points, the best part of the game was when fans let off fireworks late in the first half. This has to be the year Hamburg go down.

Most blatant match fixing I have ever seen.

That would certainly be a good explanation, because the excuse the keeper uses is a bit much. Regardless, it is nice that Simon Mignolet has found a new club.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread 17/18
Low scoring weekend, two goals being the most amount of goals scored by any team. That video of the 2nd div, Duisburg keeper getting his water bottle, while a goal is scored against him is making the rounds and initially I was thinking WTF? Having seen a video with sound from what I assume is someone in the crowd, I am a little more sympathetic towards him. Now dont get me wrong, not trying to make excuses for him, he is Dutch for Christ sake (as is my wife) and there's only two things I hate in this world, people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.
here is said video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OG53D2B2gs&t=301
Dortmund - Augsburg (Mo.) 1:1 (1:0)
The "I hate Mondays brigade" were out in full force, or should I say were not out, almost 25000 fans boycotted this game, about 40000 fans wished they had boycotted the second half. To be fair, Augsburg is one of those teams you hate to play against, they never give up.
BVB were good in the first half, Reus scored again, I want to say that is two goals in two starts, Gotze and Schurle once again getting ice hockey assists-like last week.
Leipzig - Köln (So.) 1:2 (1:0)
Leipzig have really regressed this season, good comeback for Koln though.
Leverkusen - Schalke 0:2 (0:1)
Schalke win the Pretenders Derby. I dont know what it is with Bayer?
Bremen - HSV (Sa.) 1:0 (0:0)
Like I said earlier, ugly game, I have to assume HSV finally go down this season. If you did not know, Hamburg are the only Bundesliga team to have played in every season since it's inception in 1963.
Bayern - Hertha 0:0 (0:0)
I should probably say something like, good defensive performance by Hertha, but it was kind of a lethargic performance by Bayern.
Hoffenheim - Freiburg 1:1 (0:0)
Hansi Flick, the sporting director of Hoff and also he of 2014 WC fame as JLows assistant, has left the Hoff, not sure if that means Nagelsmann is next?
Hannover - Gladbach 0:1 (0:0)
Stuttgart - Frankfurt 1:0 (1:0)
Mainz - Wolfsburg (Fr.) 1:1 (1:1)
This was a "relegation 6 pointer", which ended up as a good result for Bremen.

Should have added, you have to advance to aroun 4:55 of the video where Duisburg score and have the goal called back on offside, which is why the keeper is walking back as he does, not realizing it has been called offside.

Crazy game. Michy on a double again. Frankfurt have a lot of fight in them though. Very unfortunate to lose this one.

What do we think of the fact Batshuay is tearing it up over there?

But the truth is he didn't score in his last 5 games. So.. calma.

I always thought Batshuayi was a decent talent and, no bait, Bundesliga is clearly an inferior league so it's not surprising he's doing pretty well out there.

He's been involved in 8 goals (7 scored and 1 assist ) in his 9 games since joining BVB. That says he pretty much is tearing it up over there.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread 17/18
BVB have a tendency to bring out the best in strikers, just think back to Barrios, M. Zidan, more recently Lewa, only Schieber and Immobile have flopped so far.
Not really a Bundesliga issue. They just end up giving good service to their strikers in high-speed plays where the opposition can't organize their defnence. A great place for a striker to learn, and hone his skills.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread 17/18
So as of today, HSV have hired Ricky Gervais as their new manager, it may not work, but at least it will be fun.
At the momeny, I would say werder is safe for another season.
Freiburg - Stuttgart (Fr.)
Streich is one of the few managers who actually is a football coach today, unlike those WWEpl type managers that cater to the teenage Asian "football fan" who think the best part of the match is the interview. Well almost as fun as saying stupid things on the forums.
Having said that, I guess a VfB win is better for Bremen's hopes of survival.
1-2
Augsburg - Bremen (Sa.)
I just dont like Augsburg, they seem to have this shitty style of play which is relatively effective, but ugly.
0-3
Frankfurt - Mainz
Frankfurt am Mainz. Use to be a lot of Heroin junkies in Frankfurt when I was young, they probably all became
bankers or maybe all were bankers?
Eintracht is doing something right.
2-0
Gladbach - Hoffenheim
The Hoff is back! I think I saw some headline on kicker about bmg in crisis.
1-2
HSV - Hertha
nail in coffin and all that stuff for HSV. They cant score goals.
0-1
Wolfsburg - Schalke
Gotta be a crisis at VW.
1-2
Dortmund - Hannover (So.)
There will be a crisis in Dortmund if they lose to the real Red Bull today.
2-1
Köln - Leverkusen
Been a crisis all year in koln
1-2
Leipzig - Bayern
Match of the weekend, except that it wont really be, Bayern will play whatever players they did not play vs Besiktas and win by however many goals
1-4

Do Hamburg and Bremen skirt relegation throughout the season each year only to scrape by in the dying rounds???

I am going to say this is the year HSV go down. I am also going to say, Werder is safe, for this season.
Rare early Sunday game. BvB leading Hannover 1-0 at the half. No Reus on field or bench, hope he is not injured again.

The National Irish day hangover game, came to a slow, quiet, peaceful 1-0 end.
Triple header today, what I need is the Canadian hangover cure, namely Poutine and deep fried orange juice.
