Re: - | Transfer Talk | Rumors | News | -
Upventus for rincon, I was waiting for someone else. Not sure why so many have instantly turned on Marchisio at the very first rumour of him leaving (although given our track record, I panicked too).
Is Strootman better? Objectively, yes. That doesn't mean Marchisio wouldn't have a place in the squad even if Strootman was signed.
Now it doesn't even seem we'll sign Strootman. What a time to be alive.

And with all that today, Sturaro has links to Everton, Stoke City, Crystal Palace, West Ham and of course Fiorentina.
Maybe it will be positive after all

I think Marchisio has improved his game alot with the experience but physically he is not the same player
i dont think juventus idea is to bring a better player,
the idea could simply be to bring a younger player
keeping players like Marchisio and Khedira on the bench? I have nothing against that I just think their wage could be a problem
If we are stuck with these guys on the bench its probably because nobody wants them or they would simply leave like Dani Alves

Juventus, from Marchisio to Spinazzola: the latest
Home / News
Juventus
21/08/17 23:56| News | Autore: Redazione
Juventus still trying for Atalanta's Spinazzola. Today, there was new contact between Marotta and Luca Percassi to try to unblock this situation. Atalanta continue to stonewall: there is no signal of any opening from the nerazzurri. This situation may be blocking Asamoah to Galatasaray: without a substitute, the bianconeri will not proceed with that move.
Regarding Marchisio: there is no currently no offer and the player's will is not to leave Torino. Milan has not confirmed another Bonucci-type move for Marchisio after our verification. Marchisio is not evaluating any other opportunities.

I have no problem keeping Marchisio if the budget allows and we can get Strootman. Or if we do need money and can get $20 million from Crystal Palace for Sturaro then I'll drive Stefano to England myself.
Marchisio would be a great option off the bench. But make no mistake about it. Strootman is a major upgrade over Marchisio.
Matuidi Pjanic Strootman
Mamma Mia. Midfield goes from a weakness to the second best midfield in the world after Madrid.
Strootman Pjanic
We can also play these guys in a double pivot without any problems and have 4 attackers.
Anyways none of this may happen. Only in my dreams right now.

The problem with Strootman is he just may not want to leave Roma. From what I know, he has very strong rapport with the club and they stuck by him for two injury plagued seasons.
With that being said, they stuck by him for two injury plagued seasons. For a team like Roma that is hampered by FFP and usually forced to sell key players each window to finance new signings and comply, they may be ok with selling Strootman for a significant sum of money. Especially after bringing back Pellegrini, a top Italian CM prospect.

They want Cuadrado. $27 million and Cuadrado. Heck I'd even bump it up to $30 million.

That was quite a poor source that cited that though brother.
Cuadrado plus 30-40M would be fine by me, its a player surplus to a player that would be a starter. Kind of simple.

Roma has sold sufficently to account for FFP, and I don't think they want to anger their fans any further. But knowing them... who knows. Strootman I don't think will go anywhere.
As far as Marchisio, Milan isn't interested from the sources I have read. Even Milannews.it have confirmed the club isn't interested. We may be aiming for someone younger like Goretkza.

I don't think Strootman will leave either when its all said and done, but that would be a quality acquisition for any team.
As for Marchisio, it started as poor source and then ES made up some Sky reports that triggered me well played to him

Oh sure. I would want Strootman at Milan (as I'm sure anyone would in any of the top teams), but that won't happen. So we'll probably get someone from the Bundesliga, despite what Fassone said today.
Marchisio wouldn't really fit our project, but I know some Milan fans wanted him just to spite your team. I don't really operate that way. Bonucci was enough, and we need to stay focused.

Re: - | Transfer Talk | Rumors | News | -
Marchisio at a discounted rate would be good but he's a bit similar to Montolivo in terms of his maturity on the field, slight injury proneness and the fact that he is aging. I agree, he wouldn't fit the project at all. I also can't picture him at a team that isn't Juventus, he's Torino through and through. Basically, if he is signed at the expense of one of your younger player that you're trying to build around, then its really counterproductive.
He started for us last week and was solid. I can see him having a large role again with Juve, we play 50 games a season through three competitions. The midfield has better depth than last season but he'll still play often.
Bonucci was a masterclass from Milan. I feel like we should've received a higher fee but didn't want to prolong negotiations for a few million but rather focus on our own project and signings, which I don't disagree with.

No way...losing Cuadrado and Marchisio for Strootman would be madness. He is just as much injury prone as Marchisio and not any better imo.Despite Marchisio declining slowly he looks like getting back on good shape this season after that injury.
He would probably leave because Allegri doesn't give him playing time and chooses Khedira over him.
Losing Cuadrado would also be a huge mistake as he can play all the positions on the right side , we need someone who can play RB just in case De Sciglio fails and Lichtsteiner will be at last year form.
I know getting a talented striker/winger like Keita would be great but I'm affraid we'll end up with lots of strikers and someone will not be happy not to play.So at this point we better keep Cuadrado who can get minutes at a more defensive position if needed.
I would only approve this Strootman move only if Sturaro leaves but that won't happen as long as Dybala plays TRQ there will only be two midfielders behind him.

I think we better ship Khedira to the US than losing Marchisio... It is Marchisio's time to get back to the starting XI after his recovery from the ACL injury.
I'd rather play 433, Marchisio as the holding midfielder between Pjanic and Matuidi, and sacraficing a winger rather than losing Marchisio...

I was referring more to the last 3-4 years. It wasn't just Marchisio, it was a lot of our midfield in our bigger UCL games, especially during the Conte era. I love Marchisio, but I just prefer him as a sub for Pjanic or fill-in when Pjanic can't play on short rest or injury. Another problem is that I don't see Juve getting more than 70 minutes from Marchisio at this point in his career.

I dont know
I just like the new experienced Marchisio more than what he used to be
Marchisio on the past did not do too much; no goals, no assists,
But these days Marchisio has lots of experience and he is a leader like Pirlo used to be , he controls the game better than Pjanic

@Juventude
I think tou are easily forgetting how Marchisio was a pillar in our midfield in the last 4-5 years. How can you say that Marchisio can't play more than 70 minutes at this stage? Pirlo, who was at the same age as marchisio now received a very bad injury, played the full 90 minutes in Berlin.
Many of you are just underestimating Marchisio because you haven't seen him play consistently for a long time.

Agreed. Our midfield was built around Pogba, Pirlo and Vidal for those 3-4 years. We needed to play Vidal out of position as an AM to get Marchisio on the pitch. And during the Conte era most of our players choked in the biggest UCL games, I guess people have short memories.
People are comparing Marchisio to Pirlo and saying Pirlo was playing well into his 30's at a top level, but people are not understanding that Pirlo was a completely different player and relied on his great vision and passing to help with the attack, while being a complete liability on defense. He needed Pogba and Vidal and to a lesser extent Marchisio surrounding him to help him achieve success at a later age in his career.
Marchisio is not that player. He needs to be a defensive force and play as a box to box to be most effective, which takes alot of energy and fitness. He can't rely simply on being a regista like Pirlo as he doesn't have the same skill set.
Anyways, I don't see Strootman coming now and it looks like we will play a double pivot so Marchisio will be first choice off the bench once Matuidi integrates into the lineup.

I don't forget anything. He was fine in Serie A. Our squad was always fine in Italy the last 7 years, but big games in Europe are another matter. Maybe, I'm scarred by the 2013 UCL quarterfinal against Bayern where Pirlo and Marchisio played like they had been run over by a truck. And that was a Marchisio near top form.
Listen, I like Marchisio a lot and he has looked good in preseason and usually when you are two years removed from a surgery is when you look completely healed. But to think that at age 31 he is going to somehow be this player that is greater than the player he was four or five years ago is ridiculous. He's simply not Pirlo (but even Pirlo had his issues in UCL as Gigi points out). He will be great depth off of the bench and a good potential starter for lower level Serie A opponents or days when Pjanic needs to be rested or is injured.
I'm not sure what I'm saying that is so disagreeable. I hope Marchisio will be as great as you're saying, but I'm trying to be realistic and I want us to field a team that will finally win UCL and I don't see that happening if Juve plays both Pjanic and Marchisio whether in a two or three-man midfield.

Pirlo was a midfield master:
His basic game was focused as a talented pivot who chains the team (center backs, wing backs, center midfielders) and lead them forwards - players around him was his own herd
Its time for Marchisio to take that pivot role

Here is what i expect :
------------------ Higuain-----------------
Sandro- Pjanic - Matuidi -- Dybala -- Costa
----------------- Marchisio ---------------
---------- cb ------- cb ------- cb --------
Dybala and Pjanic to try unlocking opponents with the support of the wingers
Higuain and Matuidi to try for the headers
Marchisio on the pivot adds balance : because he is good on both defending and passing and the role doesnt expect him to run too much
Bernardeschi should also have his own chance to show himself but that should he with substitution of Dybala, Pjanic, Costa

Re: - | Transfer Talk | Rumors | News | -
I actually like that line up and explanation brother luciano, the only thing I would add is we will probably play 2 central defenders, not 3, we do not have the numbers to play 3 at the back and I think that's a blessing.
The only other issue, is a good problem to have but nonetheless, is Mandzukic. He will play brothers. It's a certainty, if he continues with the effort (which unless a sniper takes him out during a game, he will), we continue to win (we will win 85% of our matches), and he is effective (goals, assists, performance and victory).
So when creating any fantastic starting 11s, please remember these names:
1. Higuain
2. Dybala
3. Pjanic
4. Alex Sandro
5. Chiellini
6. Buffon
7. Mandzukic
If these 7 are fit, they will start.
The remaining 4 spots are virtually up for grabs, especially for the first couple months. I personally, for our future, hope that Rugani locks down the CB spot. I hope we launch a last second bid for Darmian and/or Spinazzola and they hold down the right back position.
In the midfield, if we play a two, I hope that it is Marchisio or Matuidi next to Pjanic and if it is a midfield three, then any two of Marchisio, Khedira, Matuidi can play with Pjanic and I will be satisfied. This is assuming that no other midfielders are added, which remains to be seen.
In attack, the biggest talking point will have to be the wingers. I wholeheartedly expect Cuadrado to leave. I thought he was poor in the CL final, poor in the Super Cup final, poor against Cagliari. On top of that, the quality that we now have in Costa, Bernardeschi and Pjaca (for you @rincon and @devi), this is the strength of our team and I'm excited to see how Allegri utilizes this depth. It will make or break our season in my opinion.

Gomes to Juventus on loan?
Football Italia14 Hours Ago
It’s reported Juventus could take Andre Gomes on loan, as he’s unhappy at Barcelona.
The midfielder joined the Blaugrana last summer, but struggled in his first season at Camp Nou.
According to Tuttosport, there are ongoing contacts with his entourage, and the 24-year-old wants to leave Barça.
It’s therefore thought a loan deal is feasible, possibly with an option to make the move permanent next summer.

Really not sure why Andre Gomes has any hype. Everytime I see him for Barca he is so poor. When we were linked with him last summer, I did my best to follow him at the Euro for Portugal and he even got benched there
The only real thing he has going for him is he is fairly technical and on the younger end of his career.
