Surprised there's no thread

Anyways what can I say fabulous game ffs  finally an excellent performance Carvajal, hopefully he's been able to shake off his poor patch.

Our midfield and defence were 10/10. Especially Casemiro that guy is a tank and doesn't let anyone past him, playing with our mids has alslo taught him how to pass

I hope Bale isn't injured just when he's had a good performance

Goals wil come. Most important thing is that we are creating many chances. Last season we we created about 4/5 chances a game at the start of the season now we are creating double digits

I thought the defense was pretty shaky though. We finally did well to score, but we were lucky we didn't concede more and we were lucky Ramos was on the pitch after what 15 minutes?

it was shaky a lot of chances conceded to BvB, might be the one point we have not been very good since the start of the year. But same guys that delivered before, just a matter of time

Yeah I didn't think Carvajal had a good game at all, unlike some here. In fact, I thought he was poor. Bad decisions on the attack... but more importantly, a lot of uncontested crosses which led to 1 goal.

Ramos was having a howler and then settled down later to player better. Nacho and Varane were solid however

Yeah. Carvajal did nothing really well aside from the assist. He almost commited a penalty also.

Going forward, Dani hasn't lost a step. Defending, however, he has been all over the place and as Sports mentioned, quite a few uncontested crosses. Speaking of which, Dortmund's crossing in that one game has been better than our own for like every game combined so far this season.

Anyway, enjoyable game where it was back and forth. Though Dortmund would have equalised too but it is what it is. Wonder how bad Bale injury is...

still wondering when he will see achraf.

as for Dani, i think he played too much with Ramos and Marcelo, and now he wants to turn on his good level like tap water in may when it matters... that's pretty much what these guys do.

I thought Dani had an excellent game actually. I think he mucked up the offside line once which Varane saved but he also saved a sure goal from Auba when he was allowed to get inbetween Ramos and Varane. I didn't even notice their LW all game. Just been on a Dortmund forum who said their LW was the worst player on the pitch. You've got to be incredibly pedantic to fault him this game. This is the kind of game I saw from Dani last season so if you think he was shite then he was last season too. As for the crosses none of them came from his flank they were all coming from from the top of the box where Modric would be. And you've got be reaching if you think any of their crosses were really troubling. They were all straight forward clearances.

Anyways as a team we played incredibly well. Last season at their yard Dortmund had 10 shots on target, this game theiy only had 3. Slowly slowly we are getting to our normal level. Bale also finally has a good game, he should now be rested this weekend. The more he plays the more chance there is of him getting injured

Dortmund though Laughing anyone seen a more naive team, well apart from Pep's Bayern of course? How did no player intervene when their coach suggested a highline. No way you sit in a team meeting with a straight face thinking a highline is a good idea against Bale/Ronaldo/Asensio

Dortmund were better last season when they were this free spirited careless team than this team trying to play with tactics. Though I hope we do them a favour against Spurs. Want them to go through, most professional team we've faced in CL since we started playing them all those years ago. When I compare these guys to Wolfsburg and Bayern their professionalism and sportsmanship really stands out

Bayern always finds something to complain about when we beat them and Wolfsburg was just...not good. Still perplexed we lost 2-0 to them in the 1st leg AND still won the UCL. Anyway, yeah, Dortmund usually go about our matches professionally, be it a win, loss or draw.

As for the team itself, I do not think Dortmund's new manager is particularly good at adjusting quick enough or smart enough. According to Zigra (paraphrasing here), it is not Dortmund defense is bad, the manager just is too stubborn to change his ways. Their league form is awesome though so maybe it's just the difference in quality.

As for Madrid, league form is quite sketchy but man, they can be so brutal in the UCL. Snatched the hope right out of Dortmund's heart with those goals. Loved it, just need us to do that in the league now. Please.

I don't care particularly about the league, I want that 3rd CL in a row. We'll probably also win the league, but if we won the CL this season this group will be immortal. The record won't be beaten for a long time.

Aubameyang scores on us yet again. How many consecutive games has it been? Top guy to keep such consistency.

Well as y'all can see, there is no need for concern it will only be a matter of time.

I don't think he was awful. He kept plugging away trying. Our CBs were just on song. Not many forwards play good when they play like this

Its impossible for a striker so reliant on pace to get the better of Varane.

Agreed. He is also alot more aggressive now than he was last season. I hope he's learnt his lesson not to just bounce off a striker. Wonderful to see, I just need him to be abit braver when he dribbles forward, he normally just passes it to someone and retreat to defence. I want him to do what Ramos does and keep going joining in the attack. He will always have cover with Casemiro always slotting in wherever anyone leaves the position at the back. But baby steps, slowly slowly he is giving us the performances we saw of him almost 5 seasons ago at last

I'm sorry but I do not want Varane to be anything like Ramos. Maybe perhaps his confidence level but other than that, nah. Two Ramos and I would genuinely contemplate quit being a Madrid fan to pick up volleyball.

Ramos joins attack too much. Especially now that he is close to 100 goals he is crashing box too much.

I don't mind that tbh. If we didn't have Casemiro I wouldn't like it. Nacho does it too when he plays CB. Doesn't hurt especially if you're as good a scorer as Ramos.

But of course i wouldn't want Varane picking up on Ramos' recklessness Proud

Ramos joining the attack helps when the situation is needed. He certainly did not need to join the attack constantly against Betis leaving Varane to defend a 4 v 1 and hoping to God they fk it up (they did).

I really do like to see CBs just be CBs. This modern day madness really is starting to give players a poor understanding of their position really.
