Re: Referendums in Catalonia and Kurdistan
No one is going to recognise Catalan as an independent country.
No one relevant anyways.

Re: Referendums in Catalonia and Kurdistan
Not to mention the economical impact of this misstatement, then add to that the actual truth (of what will happen ecnomically versus what they have been stating). There are now 1000 (yes the number is now one thousand) companies that have relocated, several of them already have moved executives. Using the Montreal example from the Canadian Quebec separation movement in the 70s, the companies don’t come back. It time people stopped referring to Barcelona / Cataluña as the economical centre of Spain. Those days are gone, if they ever really existed.
What will be interesting is the elections themselves!

Well, this is what they wanted. Hope they know what they are doing. This ain't no Barcelona-Real Madrid La Liga match, it's people's lives now.

Who’s they Doc? It certainly is not the majority of Catalans and even of those currently for independence, do you think they will still want independence once they see through the lies they have been fed?
They say it is not democracy when they are not allowed to separate, yet they are trying to impose this on the entire state for the sake of the minority rich! They are not following the rules of the land and using absurd rigged voting to make their statement. The potential violence depends very much on the reaction of these politicans.

Re: Referendums in Catalonia and Kurdistan
Well they likely will not be able to run in this election given they will likely be in jail! If they had of called the elections themselves, they could have run as well not have been put in jail.
What I find most interesting about this entire matter is for years the Spanish government has not disputed, at least openly the bullshit that these independence guys have been putting out there. A lot of this goes back years (decades actually) to Jordi Puyol. Similarly while these guys have spent over 40M a year in propaganda (that's public money) to spread their BS internationally, there has been little effort to win the international press by the Spanish government. But now they are beginning to do just that and I hope the average Catalan see and accepts the truth. It is suicidal economically for this independence to proceed. Unfortunately for the rest of us, it hurts the overall Spanish economy as well.
and re the violence you are talking about, Puigdemont has sent out a recorded statement saying he does not accept 155 and has asked for civil disobedience. He is provoking the violence. I'm worried about tomorrow's game in Girona.

Re: Referendums in Catalonia and Kurdistan
Can somebody explain like I'm 5 what's going to happen on December 21?
It's about a electing a new Catalan parlament I think, but what impact is that going to have? Is it going to stop the independence politicians movements?
