Already bought Titanfall 2 and CoD:WW2. Think I'm good until next year.

I finished playing through Wolfenstein 2 last night. I'm not sure how to rate it. It's clearly a very good, single player, FPS game that the developers put a lot of love into. I thoroughly enjoyed it at times, but then came the anti-climatic ending that unfortunately left me feeling a bit unsatisfied. It's a game that tells a story about what the world would look like if the nazis had succeeded in taking over everything, and you play the part as the American protagonist who, against insanely unrealistic odds, attempts to save the world with a little help from a small group of like-minded people. If you don't mind how nonsensical and unrealistic the story is at times, then you'll likely enjoy the game. MachineGames put a lot of work into the details, as they always do.

The game features a metal soundtrack and sound effects that are very similar to that of the most recent Doom game. I quite like how the sound effects add tension and atmosphere to certain situations, and I think they did a very good job with the voice acting, as well. They even created a fictional band that is supposed to represent The Beatles, if The Beatles had supported the nazi regime and made all of their songs in German Razz This decision caused some controversy. Oddly enough, you can only listen to these songs by collecting vinyls and then manually playing them.

Hitler's voice actor in particular, was brilliant. I absolutely loved how he was portrayed in general. His character is evil, delusional, narcissistic and disgusting in every sense of the word. Shame he only plays a bit part role. Character development had a lot more room for improvement, and it occasionally seemed like some of the side character interactions had to be rounded off to fit a time schedule or something - two characters could have a dramatic fight in one moment, and then forget all about it a minute later. For those who care, there are a lot of interactions between the side characters in the main base, that either trigger by themselves when you're nearby, or when you look directly at a character. From my experience, these randomly generated dialogues and monologues were, for the most part, not repetitive - which I think is a very nice detail that most games take for granted.

You can upgrade weapons and abilities in 3 ways. One way is called "perks" and grants proficiency in a certain category that promotes a certain playing style, based on how you play the game. For instance, if you sneak around and kill a set amount of enemies while stealthed, your ability to remain unnoticed, as well as your stealth damage may increase. If you don't care about stealth, and run around with dual shotguns, you'll get increased ammo based on your dual gun kills instead. I think it's a flexible system. Another way is to pick up tools that allow you to pick one of 3-4 upgrades for a weapon of choice - some are basic, like attaching a silencer, increasing magazine size - while others provide more creative upgrades, like heating up your bullets before they leave the barrel, increasing damage at the expense of bullet travel time. The third modification are 3 body mods that I won't spoil. You get to choose one during the story, but you have to do side-quests in order to obtain the other two.

All in all, it's a very good game. If you've played and liked the critically acclaimed, first Wolfenstein game by MachineGames, you'll definitely like Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. It's not a perfect game by any means, and I wish the game didn't have such a distinctively American vibe to it regarding the characters, dialogues and it's entire premise(despite being developed by a Swedish company), but it's a very solid, single player, FPS game, and a rarity these days, considering the majority of triple A, single player games seem to be associated with Sony.

Hitler's scenes from Wolfenstein 2, for those of you who don't intend on actually playing the game.

So far very good. It looks like a relatively short game.

I can't remember the original ( played it when i first got my PS4) But the sequel is what you expect in terms of length from that type of shooter.

It's fantastic though, very much on the Bioshock level for me.

I think Ubisoft are underrated btw, yeah they kinda throw out games with similar open world tasks but they still make enjoyable games

AC series has been pretty strong, some GOAT's and some meh games
Far Cry is a good time
The Division (genuinely fun co-op game)

and quite a few others, not in my top 3 but probably top 5

As much as i shit on them i agree Laughing can't deny they have made a lot of games i have enjoyed over the years.

My Top 3 would be CDPR, Naughty Dog and Rockstar tbh.

The others are like are either too infrequent like Retro or just have some unreal duds to be top 3.

Nier Automata is incredible. The whole sequence in the amusement park with the roller coaster ride and ending with that big *bleep* boss fight was amazing. The soundtrack is so good too.

I can see RG loving this game.

Both of you are going to get burnt out on Nier’s initial repetitiveness before you get to the part where the story picks up (third playthrough). You read it here first Razz RG: I suggest starting on Persona or Yakuza 0 instead of Nier.
