Whew, done all 26 endings of Nier
The story is a goddamn masterpiece. Ending E left me speechless. There were some flaws in the gameplay (the hacking in the Soul Box is fkin cancer, some fetch side quests, ridiculous grinding for ending Y) but the combat was good enough that I did not get bored in the 40 hours I played it.

- Spoiler:
- Fkin hell the early parts now makes so much sense. 2B (2E actually) getting so emotional when 9S first died, her anger when he could not remember her, how she said it always ends like this on Ending A/B.
And holy shit 9S's descent to insanity was so well done. One of the best character arcs I've ever seen in gaming. The whole third playthrough was so cruelly depressing. Take a bow Yoko Taro, seeing the destruction of YorHa, 2B's death, Operator's death, Pascal's village getting destroyed, the mass suicide of all the children, Pascal getting her memory wiped because she could not live with the pain, the game just kept throwing bombs after bombs.
It would have been the most depressing game ever if it was not for Ending E. Those Pods are the real MVPs. I am completely down for a sequel that takes place after Ending E.
Or a DLC dealing with A2's past.

Nice to see that I'm not the only one on here who had the attention span to see the game through to the end I definitely had mixed feelings while playing the game, but it was absolutely worth it in the end.

That's what I meant by don't trust them, most Battlefield games in my experience have poorly designed maps when it comes varying playstyles.
Bad Company was really the only one which nailed it.
Agreed 100%. BC 2 was also my favourite BF game (after the original 1943, but that could be nostalgia speaking). The best designs DICE have ever done when it comes to creating balanced maps for all classes.

speaking of which
looks amazing graphically, first time players are in for an unreal treat, GOTY type shit
I wasn't planning on replaying it but I think I will for sure
Never played the original but I might pick it up as it is a highly-regarded game.
Question is, if I could only play one of these, which one should I go for: This or Zelda BotW?

Gonna read up the lore on Drakengard/Nier after exams are done. How the f did a medieval fantasy series with dragons turn into this androids/robots story wtf

link the best songs from the Nier Automata OST ppl that have played it, despite my faux outrage over it beating Persona 5's at the game awards I think I've only heard one or two tracks from it. I have heard it's very good. I've heard the amusement park one IIRC.

Does this still not make sense to you? I completely understand why you and Mole like Persona 5's soundtrack better, and I agree that the simplicity of it's catchy tunes makes it a lot easier to enjoy in most daily situations. It also has the benefit of being jazzy and funky during a time where those genres of music, surprisingly, have yet to return to fashion and are hardly utilised in the entertainment business. However, I really don't understand how you can argue that it was more deserving of winning the award that was given to Nier: Automata's soundtrack.
You might as well argue that GTA 5's radio stations provided more quality music than The Witcher 3's soundtrack did. I'm sure there are lots of people who simply prefer the more pop-y tunes, and they would surely have a stronger voice if this were an award for the best pop artist. I honestly can't tell whether you're trolling or if there's a bias here that beats all sense of rational thought
You could argue that Persona 5's music is the type of music that people are far more likely to want to listen to outside of playing the game, but I think it's far more relevant to this particular award that Nier's music has more of an impact in adding atmosphere and immersion to the actual game (this is especially noticeable during the depressing parts of the game that Mole has yet to reach), something that a lot of thought and effort was put into achieving. Meanwhile, Persona 5's soundtrack was composed for the sake of being catchy and fitting to the recurring, light-hearted theme of the series. I think they achieved that as well as you'd expect them to, but the sheer scale of the production value and the amount of people involved in Nier's soundtrack is on a different level - and yes, that's relevant to this context.
If I had to briefly describe the two soundtracks, then Persona 5's music would be described as super catchy, mostly computer- produced tunes that stimulate the listener, so as to not get bored. It wouldn't make much difference which order these songs are played in, they're all good and it matters relatively little how much a particular song fits the situation you're in. Hell, you can listen to it in your car and the tunes still sound as great as they would in any other setting. Nier's music is multi-layered, carefully composed, emotional, powerful and absolutely crucial in setting the mood for it's corresponding scenes in the game. I wouldn't listen to these songs in my car, because they just don't fit the setting. They're designed specifically for the game. This would probably make more sense to you if you compare the respective impressions the two games give you when they're muted - Persona 5's world is colorful and vibrant, Nier: Automata is mostly grey and dull.

Re: General Games Discussion
ain't nobody reading pretentious paragraphs about a completely subjective topic like 'best music' especially when I specifically mentioned faux outrage, I've never even listened to Nier's soundtrack, IDC.

Re: General Games Discussion
Well, it's not a topic that I particularly care about. I mean, I would've expected Firenze to be outraged about Mozart winning a best classical composition award at the expense of the underrated genius, Tailor Swift + her personal, lyrical composers that shall not be mentioned. A bit more surprised that Mole couldn't tell the difference between a good song and a song that satisfies the criteria of the award, but I suppose it makes sense if you were trolling. Not that I actually believe that your initial intention was to troll

You clearly do care quite a lot about it though, you wouldn't write such a long post about it otherwise.

That was a very predictable comment I don't mind explaining it if it serves a purpose. My explanation was a direct reply to Firenze mentioning it, by the way.

More buggy than prime fallout 3. Graphics worse than a ps1 classic port. More information than actual gameplay.

Huh? The game looked great on my PS4 Pro. Didn't experience any bugs. Then again, I hardly had a chance to play the game. Trying out different types of weapons was pretty fun, but I never really learned the battle mechanics properly.

I know none of you play it, but Gwent Challenger #2 ( basically the main E-Sports tournament until the the world championship next year) is being held in a damn castle.
As it's the game i mainly play nowadays i'm hyped AF and thought i'd mention it.

that's pretty cool, been meaning to try it lately as a friend got into it recently and says it's addictive AF
you mostly a F2P player? or do you buy cards often? wondering how friendly it is to F2P as friend keeps whining about getting smashed, think he may just be incompetent though

Re: General Games Discussion
I know loads of people who are strictly F2P and have every card in the game.
I have spent about £40 total, i don't know much about this stuff but ex Hearthstone players etc etc say it's incredibly generous for a card game.
Also there's a update soon which is gonna add more than a 100 new cards.
Hard for me to really comment on the new player experience though, because i have been playing it since the beginning.
Although i will say that it's quite easy to get new cards, so maybe it's just a case of using decks which are flat out bad.

Re: General Games Discussion
Apparently, Player Unknown's Battlegrounds has had a shaky start on Xbox One, and the experience has been described as "wading through some very ugly porridge". I suppose it's a good thing that Xbox is being used to test how the game runs on consoles, and hopefully the game will be in better shape once it gets released on PS4.
