Harry Kane - the next Galactico

Post by Hapless_Hans on Mon Oct 23, 2017 1:07 pm

It's not hard to predict what will happen in summer.

Kane is the best striker in the world at the moment, and Real Madrid always buys the best players.

Not only that, they are in dire need of a new striker and their last Galactico signing is quite a while back.

Congrats @Nick, @Hala, @Chad, @Doc, @CReal, @futbol_bill etc pp

IMO they should also finally get De Gea, and their summer market would be perfect.

I highly doubt they'll ever get De Gea. Not sure about Kane, but I'm generally sceptical towards transfers regarding British players and their ability to perform consistently in La Liga.

I wouldn't doubt Kane, Thimmy. If he went to Real he would be a hit.

@Hans, Kane literally said a couple days ago he's extremely happy at Spurs and if nothing changes anytime soon (manager sacked, best players leaving, financial struggles) he could see himself being a one club man. He's been with the club since age 11.

I don't rule out him leaving, but I think he's got this year and next year to stay at least, and if Spurs are consistently in the CL and consistently challenging the EPL during that time, I don't see him leaving even after that time period. He's got the best chance to bring home trophies and glory to the club he grew up in for a long time. He's already one of the clubs best ever, if he brought home an EPL title, a CL (lol sorry had to), even multiple FA cups as well as being one of the clubs best goalscorers, he would be Tottenham's greatest ever player.

Prying him away, management wise, would also take probably 180m+ pounds, honestly probably more. If Spurs sold Harry Kane the others would also leave, and unless the reinvested properly, they would have lost their chance to be among England's best for a prolonged period.

tl;dr This thread is foolish, Kane isn't leaving.

Kane is the real deal though. There's always a chance a player doesn't perform for some reasons for another club, but I see no reason why Kane wouldn't.
I should know since I tried to paint him as a one season wonder for 3 seasons in a row.

As for De Gea, you might be right but I don't quite get it.
De Gea is the Spanish NT GK, he is still quite young, outstanding and would IMO be a definite upgrade on Navas, even if Navas is great too.
After Neuer, he will be the biggest GK name, even if I'm predicting Ederson to turn out the greater player :coffee:

IMO it should be a no brainer to get him, but maybe Uncle Flo is not willing to spend too much money on the GK position, as a matter of principle?

No need for that CBarca, I always read your excellent posts to the last letter, no matter how long.

Hans, word is they have given up on DeGea. It mostly the price, but also the market in general re price, and also the play of Navas. The plan now is young Kepa from Bilbao. They plan to bring him in and let Kilo go, having Kepa challenge Navas. If Navas can still win the starting spot, they will only put him on 1 year contracts meaning, Kepa has a couple of years to beat him for starting role aka what they have done for most other positions on team.

You are right however re a striker whether it is Kane or someone else.

Men make plans, and God laughs, though. This will probably not work. The kid will not get better sitting on the bench, and you don't know how good he will actually become.
De Gea is a proven elite GK. Real should just buy him and be done with it. Poor kid is rotting in the dampness of Manchester, having to carry a mediocre, sluggish Mourinho team after having had to carry seasons of sluggish, mediocre Moyes and van Gaal teams.
All the while his TV starlet gf is left unguarded in Madrid.

Michael Owen and David Beckham were supposedly the real deal, as well. Two transfers we could have been without (excluding economic benefits). Not to mention how we’re currently stuck  with being Bale’s personal welfare system. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of Kane. I especially admire his fotball intellect, and I think that’s what makes him such a special player. With that being said, I’ve seen enough «proven» British players struggle with consistency in La Liga, and I think it would be a substantial risk to splash 200m on another British player who, due to political reasons, is likely to be a starter regardless of whether or not he’s up to par in the long term. I would definitely have preferred Lewa. As cynical as it may sound, I think his profile is more flexible, as the coach wouldn’t have the same pressure from above to absolutely allow him to play.

Beckham was always overrated tbf, also Owen was great pre injuries. I don't think it's a case of English players struggling in La Liga.

More that the ones they have bought are just not good enough or in Owen's case just his career dieing because he was constantly injured.

That doesn’t change the fact that Lewa would be disposable if he doesn’t perform, and Kane would be an insanely expensive signing that the coach would likely be forced to start, even if he returns from a car accident in a wheelchair. Kane, as well as Dele Alli are the posterboys of elite footballers that were born and bred in England. I can only imagine the pressure English media would put on the club, if they struggle to perform, or god forbid, are put on the bench in favor of someone else. Owen was clinical, but his injury woes and his whiny family made life hard for him.

I agree. I don't want any other striker to challenge Benzema's greatness. He needs all the support he can get.

To be clear i wouldn't advocate Delli Alli Laughing

He's great but he's essentially a more mobile Thomas Muller, nothing wrong with that but i doubt Madrid are looking for anyone of that profile.

Well, he’s another player that’s been linked to RM and I’d prefer other alternatives. I’m pretty sure RM aren’t looking for an AM, anyway. Or a midfielder, for that matter.

As for De Gea, I would love for him to come to RM. No offense to Man Utd fans, but I honestly believe the shitty defenders he's had in front of him has been a substantial factor in helping him develop into one of the very finest goalkeepers in the world. I've been a huge fan of his, ever since he burst onto the scene at ATM, and I think he would be a perfect fit for Real. I just don't think the transfer will happen anytime soon, we blew our chance when the last transfer didn't go through. Even in the unlikely scenario that he hands in a transfer request and RM approach UTD a second time for him, I'm sure Woodward will demand mountains and rivers of liquid gold + added compensation fee for hurt pride.

Beckham was world class, the problem was selling Makalele and replacing him with Beckham/Solari. Killed any balance the team had in midfield.

There simply was no adequate, available replacement for Makelele, but that doesn't make Beckham world class, in my humble opinion.

Kane would be gone within 2 seasons. It's Tottenham, they never ever keep their best players.

But yea, Kane is world class. No idea what more he has to do to prove it?

Alli isn't elite though nor he ever will be. Lacks technique and skill. He is just another Pennant.

That scrub Harry Kane? I see the epl machine is alive and well.

Kane has no business in Real Madrid. Maybe a few big game performances against elite clubs in the CL will change my mind but all I see is hype without substance. Typical of EPL forwards.

Beckham finished 2nd in WPOTY, had 33 assists in one season, showed up in big games and was not world class?

He gets a lot of unfair flak for his celebrity status, he was absolutely one of the best in the world at his prime. Perhaps the best crosser of the ball ever.

You are going to have prove that assists claim M99 lol, mainly because Assists were barely tallied then.

He was a fantastic crosser of a ball but i genuinely feel like he was really overrated in general.

Beckham did not have a role at Madrid with Figo and Zidane. He just didn't fit in at Madrid and the only time he proved his worth was in Capello's last year after he had signed for LA. Capello wasn't going to use him, but after running into injury problems used him and that time (only that time), he had a role and played well that 2nd half of season.
