because city winning the title in that game will cut you deep.Firenze wrote:Unique wrote:Champions elect Man City are within one win of the Premier League title after a fine first-half blitz gave them a 3-1 win at Everton on Saturday.
If City beat rivals Manchester United on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium, live on Sky Sports Premier League at 5.30pm, they will be crowned champions for the third time in seven years.
i bet frenzy is crapping his pants. wont be a good day for manure fans

Just 12 points from a possible 84 now for Alan Pardew in the Premier League as manager of both Crystal Palace and West Brom (W2 D6 L20)
And yet he will still find a club next season lol

I wouldn't mind an explanation (being a foreigner) from the Brexit lads as to why Pardew, despite a shitty resume, still keeps on getting employed AND paid handsomely?

We had to deal with that man for 4 years ffs.
What's worse when we started bitching about him after two years we were lambasted by media.
Yet other fans don't even last a few months before they want him gone (rightly so BTW)
Glad that period of my life is over, I'll always be grateful to that Palace chairman from saving me from hell.

He's footballs equivalent of slimy car salesman, he says everything you want to hear despite not having a clue how to accomplish his claims or even wanting to.
He's excellent at playing the media and people who don't know what he's actually doing, on top of that he has a lot of friends in the media.
All these things combined means he'll keep getting jobs.

I feel he's done in the PL now tbh, will get some scrubby championship teams in for him though just due to his name but come on, the record speaks for itself, one of the WOAT managers.

Re: BREXIT Premier League 17-18 Discussion Part 8
We have to blame Mike Ashley for this tbh.
Because he was done after getting sacked by Southampton in the third tier, nobody gave a shit about him anymore.
But then we hired him and he's back in the minds of PL clubs.

Re: BREXIT Premier League 17-18 Discussion Part 8
I remember some rumour floating around back then that he got the job due to being gambling buddies with Ashley lol, man offered him the role over some cards one night at the casino
if it were any other two individuals I'd write it off as nonsense
I'm thanking Ashley in this case anyway as West Brom are a loathsome side IMO, glad they're going down

Same thing could be said about half the managers in the PL. Hughes, Pulis, Woy, Big Sam, Wenger, Pardew, Lambert, Moyes.

I mean, Big Sam and Pulls have at least had results. Not good ones mind, but if you were a club heading for relegation and needed a change midseason, Big Sam and Pulls have both shown ability to carve out draws and occasional wins, enough to keep teams safe. That's their peak though, and eventually it all comes crashing down.
Hughes, Pardew, Wenger, Woy and Moyes though, yeah I have no clue how any of them keep getting jobs/have a job atm

Also I heard something about a Mane dive? I haven't been paying the most attention recently
Can someone confirm or deny this? It doesn't really make sense, I've been told Liverpool never dive, only other dirty clubs like Spurs do?!?!
Very conflicted right now

I know it's not easy, but if you're progressive with the manager you hire and your signings, you shouldn't need to hire Big Sam to save your season. So many PL clubs fail to do so, though.

Re: BREXIT Premier League 17-18 Discussion Part 8
Basically, clubs are shit scared of relegation and the huge financial hit that comes with it so hire the first guy with a "record" of keeping teams up.
Everton hiring Allardyce was peak panic-hiring with only the short-term in mind. Once their squad started performing to its actual level they were more-than safe with half the season to go. Now they're realising what a mistake hiring Allardyce was.
West Ham getting Moyes... well, just look who runs that club. Their head of recruitment was sacked for saying he didn't want to sign anymore black players and their owners were called "dildo brothers" by Sporting CP's chairman. They're a circus.
As for Pardew, WBA just fell for his spin. Nobody is better at inflating their own worth than Pardew is.
I also think favourable media reaction is part of it. Allardyce, Moyes, Pardew, etc. all enjoy a good reputation in the press here for some bizarre reason, and I wouldn't be surprised if club owners were taken in by the narrative that they're just honest, hard-done working men who just need a chance and not rubbish managers.

Arsenal's decline from being a team winning leagues and going unbeaten and playing attractive football, to a mediocre, mid level team that can not put three passes together has been so gradual, that I did not even realize it was happening until now.
