seems like a pretty good midfielder to me and we all know Youtube is the best place to do research

Rumour has it that we'll still buy one WC midfield to partner him up with, Pjanic or Thiago most likely.

That was my impression, as well. He had a good game. Looking forward to seeing how he performs against an opponent that they have a tougher time against.

Completely agree with @RG.
Kid completes a few backwards and sideways 5 yard passes and Barca fans call him the new Xavi. Every sinlge risky pass he tried vs Spurs  ended up at the oppoeent.

Overrated. Nothing scrub until proven otherwise.

Completely untrue, Hopeless Hans. How about you count how many misplaced passes Meltbele has per game? How many times he gets dispossesed while trying to dribble with his chicken legs?

Thankfully he got benched and we finally played some watchable football.

It seems that Valverde will continue to bet on the 4-3-3 with Arthur and without Dembélé. [@Marsallorente]

Nobody cares about backwards passes and sideway passes. The kid is crazy good under pressure, Busi-like, and has a immense positional awareness. I dont care if he plays 99 sideway passes, as long as he does 1 action like the one leading up to the 1-3.

Getting away from pressure and creating space behind his run, for Messi to walk in to

You probably will call this basic midfielder skills, but its something Rakitic, Roberto and Thiago lack. They have more forward movement and passing but it lacks intelligence imho. Arthur is the kind of player we needed. He is no Xavi or Iniesta replacement, but he is an upgrade to everything we have at this moment. And he is just 22. In a couple years he will be at his controlling midfielder peak and we can 10 years of fun with him.

dont @ me

dont @ me cause this guy is the shit at 22 while at Bayern everyone is 35 and cant even win against Ajax

Would like to retract this.

His full name is Arthur Melo. Once upon a time, there was another Brazilian named Melo who was the most jobberest jobber to ever jobber so its fully understandable to go by the name Arthur instead.

He indeed was amazing yesterday. MOTM.

has yet to put in a bad performance and has dominated Spurs, Sevillas and Inters midfields. Not saying he's the next Xavi or Iniesta but he is deff not a scrub, the guys legit. Great signing by Barca, which is something one can't say often.

He's a ball magnet. Knew he was special when he was racking up 100 passes as a CM for a team that barely had 50% possession.

Right now he plays a little too safe and short, which is understandable, but if he can work on that then wow I wonder what kind of player he'll become in a few years. A potential generational CM is on Barca's hands.

He's been at least as impressive as Umtiti was last year before his brother started talking about money. Looking more like Xavi every passing game.

Re: ARTHUR

Post by danyjr on Tue Oct 30, 2018 2:21 pm

You guys have obviously forgotten how Xavi played if you think this numpty is any close to the legend himself.

This guy plays safe and is more obsessed about keeping possession than actually getting the ball upfield. Tell me when he played a crucial pass in the past 3 matches? He played maybe one critical pass all match against Madrid. Compared to Xavi who would have seen a pass that your average numpty midfielder (read Cesc) would also see but Arthur not only didn't play the lob, he didn't even acknowledge it. In fact I've seen one single long ball from him in 300+ minutes despite the many runs the full backs would make in behind the opposition defence.

Don't get me wrong, the lad is doing alright but the Xavi comments are as premature as my ejaculations.

But hey defensively he is as poor as Xavi is. That's a similarity?

(sorry I love this numpty word since reading the Lopetegui Suicide Watch thread)
