Bayern Munich's summer revolution
Thiago's asked to leave
Vidal could leave
Boateng could leave as well apparently for the right price
Most importantly, Lewandowski wants to leave
That's a whole bunch of experienced players that Bayern are looking to offload
Guess James replaces Thiago , Goretzka replaces Vidal , some random jabroni from BL replaces Boateng
So i suppose the entire focus would be on replacing Lewandowski and finding future Robben/Ribery replacements ? Bayern have their work cut out tbh.
It appears like a lot of top teams will be playing FIFA manager mode this summer

Bayern purposefully making themselves worse so they make people think Bundesliga is actually getting better?

Sell half the team and still keep the two wingers everybody expected them to replace for the last 3 years.

Re: Bayern Munich's summer revolution
Lewandowski wanting to leave isn't necessarily too bad, at 29 it's the right time to still sell him for big bucks. They got his best years.
But they shouldn't let Thiago leave, he looks like a very good CM to me and selling too many key players in one summer isn't smart. Sell Lewa, keep Thia.
Vidal is all right, but replaceable.

Bayern’s team like a praetoran roach that just doesn’t want to die, its barely surviving in a few limbs and feeds on small passerby insects. Just die already.

Sell Lewa, sell Vidal, keep Thiago and Boateng. That is what will happen. Hardly a revolution, especially since we never keep strikers around longer than 3-4 years. Lewa has been here already too long.

Even the Kovac choice looks like "revolutionary"

Bayern signs Pavard
Pavard was France's worst player in the final
(curious how highly you guys rate him tbh)

Good defender, he also has the look as if he came from another era (ala Vallejo). Like him, good transfer for Buyern.

Re: Bayern Munich's summer revolution
Unreal signing.
Think he'll play CB for Bayern as opposed to the RB role he was used at with France

Re: Bayern Munich's summer revolution
To be fair though, Perisic absolutely skinned him in the first half of the final but he's still young and overall, he's had an excellent showing in the world cup for someone of his age especially since he was used as a makeshift fullback.
Even the likes of Varane got destroyed by 40 yr old Drogba before going on to become one of the best defenders in Europe.
I suppose he must have been really good for Stuttgart too which is probably why Bayern are buying him in the first place.

Re: Bayern Munich's summer revolution
Of course I did.
Kante: 6.0
Lloris: 6.0
Varane: 6.5
Matuidi: 6.5
Umtiti: 6.7
Pavard: 6.8
And these are just the starters

Re: Bayern Munich's summer revolution
He was also the second youngest and most inexperienced player in the line-up playing a position that is secondary for him. Also he was one of the best defenders in World Cup prior to the final. It also did not help him to have Mbappe as his winger who isn't the best in the defensive end.
But I guess he is a bad signing if he was the worst player in a WC winning XI.

Galatasaray - Real Madrid 2013 quarter final return leg. Go re-watch it if you can.
Drogba cucked Varane in that game

A WC player pulling a great move doesn't necessarily mean the the defender got destroyed.

Okay I don't want the Varane hype to annoy anybody so I'll bite the bullet
Yes he got destroyed. A whoscored rating of 5.9 is abysmal

That's not the point. Stop acting like Varane has never had shaky performances before coming through as a WC defender.
And this was a 36 year old near retirement Drogba who dominated Varane.
Every young defender goes through this process. It's a learning curve for them.

Re: Bayern Munich's summer revolution
Don't really understand why some Madrid fans are pretending Varane was this good all along.
He was very, very frustrating to watch, especially post-2013-injury. He used to do many stupid mistakes and didn't know how to position himself or read the game properly.
He has made tremendous progress and blossomed into a WC defender. But let's not pretend he was this good even back then. There was a reason he got benched by Pepe under two different managers.
Now, however, he's absolutely sensational, and I'm proud of the progress he's made.

Re: Bayern Munich's summer revolution
He's always been this good less the aerial presence (that's new; he had a hard time against physical players through 2014). His struggles were entirely due to injury... it takes time to get yourself right after getting hurt and he had a lot of injuries until these last 18 months.
He started out by completely dominating Barca and Messi if Madrid fans remember. Then he had thigh and knee problems. 3 surgeries.
In any case, Pavard is headed to Bayern.
