Sky Sport have reported that Antonio Mirante is the favorite to start in goal ahead of Robin Olsen against Toro for the Giallorossi’s first clash of the season. Reportedly, Eusebio Di Francesco wants to give the Swede more time to adapt.

Uh oh.

It’s reported that the first weekend of Serie A could be postponed, in light of the tragic bridge collapse in Genoa.

The Ponte Morandi collapsed on Tuesday morning, leaving at least 39 people dead and many more injured.

Sampdoria have asked for their match with Fiorentina to be postponed while the city mourns, and Genoa’s ultras have made it clear they won’t attend the Grifone’s match at San Siro against Milan.

It may not be only those two games that are affected though, as Il Secolo XIX reports.

Serie A is due to kick-off on Saturday with Chievo-Juventus and Lazio-Napoli, but a state funeral will be held for the victims on the same day, which has been declared as a national day of mourning.

That would therefore make it unlikely that those two games can be played.

Seems confirmed that only the games of the Genoan teams will be postponed.

The Serie A club presidents are gathered in Milan, but Claudio Lotito and Aurelio de Laurentiis decided they would rather play Briscola than do transfers.
