Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
This is very very unlike soulsborne games
but it is also very much like soulsborne games.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
No, I had a wisdom tooth pulled on Wednesday. Was pretty much fine with 0 pain all day Thursday, so of course on Friday, the day of my most hyped game release in YEARS, I start getting an irritating throbbing pain that's been ongoing for basically 24 hours with no chill. Closest I got to playing the game is installing it and admiring the steelbook.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Painkillers, even strong ones aren't really helping. I just want to play the game man, but I'm already frustrated enough that playing Sekiro will probably send me on a rampage.
was hoping I was gonna be playing it today but looking unrealistic too. You heard anything about length? I'm probably not gonna blitz it myself, I do plan to platinum it but I expect it to take me a month or so rather than the usual 7-10 days.
THis one Dark Souls fan I was talking to said they refunded it on Steam (so within a couple hours) because the combat lacked 'impact' whatever the fuck that means. Sounds like a numpty problem with him.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
lmao what does that mean?
I think he just didn't like that they tried to make a different game. You can feel it straight away that it's not a souls game. A lot more Tenchu and ninja gaiden. Combat is different but it's harder than ever. I mean you get one shot even by weaker enemies.
Length is the same as BB and DS3 apparently.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
how you enjoying the verticality with the grapple etc? seems so weird compared to their last games, hopefully I can adjust to it. Also how are you finding the level design so far? hoping it's more like DS1 than DS2/Bloodborne. BB was too linear for me.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
It kinda reminds me of uncharted 4 believe it or not. The way you have to use stealth, grappling hook, hugging the walls, moving by holding on to the ledge, enemy alert sign when they spot you, moving through the bushes and tall grass etc.
Things like that makes it the most different fromsoft game yet. There is also a lot more talking. A proper story and not lore.
I am liking the grappling but i haven't done much with it. It's great to sneak up and scout from the roof.
can't comment on level design since i am still in the introductory phase and haven't progressed enough to see how linear it is. But i think it's more like nioh than BB or DS1.
One thing for sure, it's not a dark game.

And when you think it's not like a typical fromsoft game....
the dogs arrive on the scene. They have the same mechanics as DS games ffs
Also the first boss is disgusting.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Just started it today. Only played for an hour, gonna go HAM tonight, feels good, Souls like but also very different.
Any early game tips (no spoilers pls) or things you wished you did early on?

I wish i knew that you can collect sen by holding the square button. I thought it collects automatically so i didn't bother till i realised it doesn't. You probably know that already though.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
game is insane ffs
chained ogre took me 10+ attempts..
I've beaten the first two major bosses though and every enemy I've found except the first headless guy and some OP purple ninja in Hirata Estate that was hidden away

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
changed my mind too, this is nothing like the previous games
I think it's good but my thoughts so far are that I don't see it surpassing Dark Souls/BB at all for me
Nioh is way more like Dark Souls than this game is
