Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 3
I really love Aquaman. One of the best 80s movies I’ve seen in a while. Also a lot of the critiques of this movie is just plain people not getting jokes.
At one point a Pitbull song (Cover of Toto’s Africa) is playing while their in Sahara.
Some people are judging that as if it’s not supposed to be corny and on the nose for comedic effect. If that’s not your humour. Fine. But to suggest it wasn’t supposed to be funny and on purpose is the most ignorant shit.
One of the best moments of the year for me.

Watched 10 seconds of Aquaman or whichever trailer, and turned it off with an absolute disgust for a modern movie scene.

Looks great. Most anticipated Super-Hero movie of the year for me, all time MCU.
Jake Gyllenhaal already the greatest superhero villain of all time.

Batman coming out June 25th 2021
Also confirmed Affleck is not returning as was expected. He was not a fit for the story.

Good. Was shocking in JL. Not entirely his fault but he should have never been a part of DCEU but just a standalone film that was adapting the dark knight returns.

Into The Spiderverse blew me away. The animation was gorgeous which you could tell from the trailers, but the story and performances were just wow. Amazing movie, one of the best superheroes movies ever made in my opinion.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 3
I wasn't as impressed with the overall story - it was a generic parallel universe sci-fi just fitted into the Spider-Man origin story, and how exactly does one measure performances in an animation?
Yes, the every technical aspect of it was terrific though.

You can tell from voice acting.
The story worked really well thanks to the heart and emotion of it. Miles' relationships with his father, uncle and Peter was one of the best parts of the movie. The story being well paced, having twists, shocks, heartbreak, and humor made it really good.

Captain marvel doesn't sound too good looking at these reviews. But then that was obvious.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 3
Liked Captain Marvel a lot. Was expecting not to be "shocked" and to have a tepid feeling from the lack of hype, but was pleasantly surprised.
It does suffers from some typical things of an origin story. Still preferred it a lot to others like Antman or Dr Strange. A lot of fun and really interesting world building.
Badass, funny and hype. I'm on this train loved Bree Larson and Sam Jackson.
Also that post credit scene is HYPE

- post credit scene spoilers:
- I really wasn't expecting her to show up. Marvel is so sure of their success that they put this scene in captain marvel already Basically assuming that everyone that cares will go into endgame having watched captain marvel. The way she appeared was perfect, got me so hyped to see the remaining avengers show up and CM appearing out of nowhere pissed and looking for Fury.
Also, CM is on a whole different level. All the low level avengers should just take a step back and let CM, Thor, Hulk and Tony figure it out.

I really liked it. Talos was amazing, Brie Larson is great, Samuel L Jackson was awesome, Goose is a G. Very well paced, humor in the right moments, and some hype action scenes. Not really a fan of how Jude Law's character was handled, thats my biggest criticism of the film. Another is rest of the Starforce was really underdeveloped.
Can't wait to see her in Endgame. iss gonna be gud
