There's absolutely nothing I would change in your post, and I completely agree with you.

I wouldn't do that, spend that much, especially for 30-year old strikers. But keep in mind, you're giving me a scenario of someone who's got their back against the wall.

If I were in charge, I would make sure not to end up in that situation. So what if I gave Ronaldo a raise for another year or two? I would still have an elite striker in my team and would also have enough time to think of a proper, long-term replacement.

You said it yourself, the market is dry. So why would I sell my top goalscorer to a European rival and force myself to make due with Benzema and Bale? Does he seriously think those two will magically turn into R9?

Because he forced us into a decision. you can argue that we can act like Bayern or PSG and block our players because they have a contract, but we dont usually do that. Right or wrong that's how we choose to deal with players.

Also, CR just got a 4 year deal, that tells you he didn't want a raise for a year or two. These players want the longest contract possible because it's guaranteed money. He is gonna make 120 millions euros net in his bank account with Juve lol. Remember when we carried crooked Kaka's carcass for years because we couldnt get rid of his contract?

No one is saying this situation is ideal by the way, but i dont think we purposely put ourselves at risk. we won a lot, it's time to get a new cycle going.

#MUFC increasingly confident they will finally sign Toby Alderweireld next week.

Tobito - Smalldini is solid AF

still hope Bailly gets a legit shot though, but regardless we'll have the best CB duo in the league so long as they gel

seems we'll conclude our business with this..entire season hangs on whether Alexis lives up to his level, which I'm thinking he won't. Hope we can squeeze in a deal for a mid tier winger or something.

the problem madrid are facing is they are being priced out of a market they created.

Manchester United are growing frustrated with Barcelona defender Yerry Mina, who is stalling over a £35m move to Old Trafford.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is plotting a £25m move for Croatian defender Domagoj Vida.

Joe Hart is set to take a huge £70,000-per-week pay cut in order to join Burnley from Manchester City.

Fulham are plotting another ambitious move, this time trying to sign Real Madrid left-back Theo Hernandez on loa

There are not after Alderweireld ? Makes much more sense

Gotta be cautious with defenders like Vida who shines in a World Cup. He makes a spectacular tackle once in a while but he also commit many minor mistakes. During the final he gave France a free corner etc

But anyways i don't have much hope for Man Utd until Mourinho is there, he downgrades most players nowadays.

Not even sure Vida shined tbh Laughing

He looked very average to me, Croatia's worst defender by far.

Vida wasn't terrible by any means, if anything, Vrsaljko was worse, he played good in the WC

WAT.

Vrsaljko was probably their best defender lol. Vida consistently gave opportunities and was defeated 1 v 1.

Against us he made Sterling look like Mbappe until we retreated into our shells. Vida was average at best and that's being kind.

Agreed with MOLE

He is a decent tackler i'll admit but overall poor defensive awareness and leaves tons of space for attackers. Rated for his haircut and lucky goal, carried by Strinic and Lovren.

Vrsaljko was taking shots 40m away from goal, was a complete numpty in attack, almost useless. Vida, was great against Russia, like all defenders he made mistakes, but he has shown glimpses.

Arturo Vidal was offered one month ago to Manchester City and Manchester United by his agents but both clubs discard the signement. His age and his knee (two surgeries) were the reason of the refuse even the price was reasonable.

What does that have to do with a discussion about defending?

Pogba isn't for sale and I'm pretty sure that quote is made up. I remember reading what he said yesterday and it was more along the lines of Pogba is a great player who plays for another team and we respect other teams and their players.

tl;dr 0% chance of us selling Pogba.

Vrsaljko was one of the best attacking outlets for Croatia, not sure if you even watched 1 game from Croatia. The equalizer vs England in the semi's came from Vrsaljko's cross and literally every attack was going through the right side with Vrsaljko.

Vida looked like a clown in every club he played. Every big game in the CL I seen from him he either makes a terrible mistake or gets a red card like vs Bayern Laughing
He only looked decent for Croatia, and it's because NT football is much slower than club football, NT teams don't play often together so they are much less compact and organized and most focus on defending so it's much easier to look like a good CB for the NT as we seen from many examples

It's better for your health to believe that

Pogba would gladly leave for Barca surely, although the transfer is complicated because of financial reasons. That said, wouldn't be suprised if it happens.

it won't happen because we're not selling, he's under contract and you can't afford him. period. pure fantasy to think you can. stick to signing broken Vidal for pennies.
