Honestly, Woodward needs to leave or at least bring in a DoF

why would you 'trigger a release clause' for a player when you haven't agreed on the transfer with him?

not sure it's legit and like you say screams amateurish

He'll be 33 in 6 months and has been at Atleti for years so I don't blame him for wanting to stay there, he's a legend.

I'd rather sign Mina tbh, as good as Godin is..30m for 1-2 years, nah (even if he wanted to come)

Eh, in the real world you're both wrong. By the rules, you're not to approach the player before you've had a bid accepted by his current club. Technically a club can be penalised for tapping up a player, but I don't remember has it ever happened. Anyway, the "no tapping up of players" is up there with "keepers can hold onto the ball for six seconds max" as the most broken rules in football, but Woodward is just playing by the rules here.
