From what I saw Davies did OK, should have won the Pig Farmers a PK in the last minute, but not given. If he scores the winning pk, he will become the greatest signing since a young Franz Beckenbauer, if he misses, the next Lukas Podolski.

should not count the James penalty, he stops on the run up, typical Bavarian cheating. The self proclaimed greatest German Striker, misses his cleanly

Hummels "Panenkas" the winning 5th PK and the Iceberg Messi is not needed, too bad, now we will never know if he will be the greatest Bayern player of all time.
Both Thiago and James pks should not have counted. I know they dont call it anymore, but they really should not allow this stop-start run up kind of pk's.

Yeah I hate these stop start runups. Lewa does them too, another reason why he's such a very unappealing elite striker.

6 points behind now

do you still vehemently want him out Hans? genuine question as I haven't watched you at all, but the results seem to have turned around. Give a manager more than 4 months and he can start implementing his philosophy and getting results, I guess. Whoda Thunk it.

Things are ok for now as the team has decided to carry him in lack of alternatives.
Besides, there was the winter break so we didn't have many opportunities to lose games.

He's still not good enough so yes, I want him out.
We are not able to control the game even vs the poorest opposition, and it will be impossible to beat good teams like that. And that's on him alone. 9 months ago we were still the best team in Europe.
Get Salzburg's Rose in before he's snatched up by Hoffenheim, which of course is what will happen while we continue to carry this scrub's weight on our backs.

Typical German. Thinks it's 1942 again and German borders = European borders.

If refereeing had been anywhere close to acceptable, we'd won that CL final vs Roma easily

If your squad had been anywhere close acceptable, you would have won 1 outta the 6 attempts at beating Madrid. Easily.

Those robbed penalties are a fact, and therefore it's highly rational.

Bayern München under Niko Kovac - Page 4 Empty Re: Bayern München under Niko Kovac

For those of you who need some kind of authority figure to tell you in order to believe what I've been telling you already, here's a summary on Bayern by our friend Honigstein

Bayern Munich are top of the pile in the Bundesliga once more, but even a thumping 5-0 win over fellow title contenders Borussia Dortmund hasn't been enough to bring tranquility to Bavaria's capital. On the contrary, Saturday's triumph has only served to amplify the rumblings of discontent behind the scenes. The difference of opinion about manager Niko Kovac, a debate that's raged "backstage" at the boardroom level, is now out on the open, a noisy distraction destined to dominate the final weeks of the season.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge must have known what he was doing. Bayern's Executive Chairman pointedly refused to issue a job guarantee for Kovac during an appearance on a Sky Germany talk show on Sunday morning and explained that the 47-year-old had been told to stop his extreme rotation policy before Christmas.

"Everyone has to perform and whoever can't deal with the pressure is at the wrong club," Rummenigge added. That same evening, club president Uli Hoeness backed Kovac in an interview with Kicker and chided Rummenigge for his implied criticism. "You can't work with someone you constantly undermine," the 67-year-old warned.

Rummenigge and Hoeness, former Bayern teammates in the mid-to-late 1970s, have often not seen eye to eye since the former became a leading member of the board in 1991. They have just as often made up again, finding common ground or at least settling upon a form of job-sharing.

It's no secret in Munich that some players and coaches get chosen by one of them, while others get hired due to the wishes of the second alpha male at the club. For example, appointing Kovac was very much Hoeness' idea after Rummenigge had brought Carlo Ancelotti to Munich and sought to get Thomas Tuchel in as the Italian's replacement. Hoeness' futile attempts to convince Jupp Heynckes to continue in the job saw Bayern lose out Tuchel a year ago, which prompted them to turn their attentions to former midfielder Kovac as a back-up choice.

Rummenigge made it clear on Sunday that he's still not 100 percent sold on the Croatian as the long-term option
and Kovac, an inexperienced coach, has become a pawn in the the power struggle and the clash of egos above him. But the nature of the disagreement isn't purely a personal one.
[..]

Rummenigge's stated intention to step down from his position at Bayern in 2021 has given his dream of winning another European Cup an element of urgency. The German champions' elimination by Liverpool last month has done little to convince the two-time European Footballer of the Year that Kovac is the best possible manager to oversee the squad's transition.

Results in the league and the German Cup will provide the ammunition for and against the coach in this personal and philosophical battle but worryingly for Kovac, there's a chance that even winning might not be enough as the discontent with his work is not just restricted to board level. From within the dressing room, complaints from players about a lack of ideas and tactical sophistication continue to fester. One senior player told ESPN that Kovac's match preparation was "like Ancelotti's."

It was not meant as a compliment.

Have to say Guardiola really spoiled some of these players. While Kovac might not be the solution, I don't think any manager can satisfy these clowns demands anymore. They are getting older and still think they can be elite but somehow are not "because of the manager".

A fresh start is what Bayern need, and not just in the manager.
