He barely even touch his hairs, i'm sure Ronaldo just wanted to fix a misplaced fringe. Probably gave him some tips about hair gel too What a Face

In any case, bs red card, now that Ronaldo isn't under Real Madrid's protection he is a target for the refs. Bs red card, i hope the club goes in appeal for the suspension.

CR7 the self-proclamed new hero missed his CL debut with Juve, this will piss him off and it's always good news.

I don't know why they bother with pronouncing his last name, wouldnt it be easier to just say Wojtek? Which is basically just pronounced Voytek in Polish.

So in polish "jc" = t ?

Always believe it was Voïtchek Tchesny, seems like commentators got it wrong all this time.

No, 'Wojtek' is a less formal way of saying the name 'Wojciech' like Christopher and Chris

Wojtek = Voytek, but the 'ch' in Wojciech doesnt have a counterpart in English so it's hard for me to describe the way to pronounce it.

I guess you could just type it into Google Translate, choose Polish and hit the sound button to hear how it's correctly pronounced.

You can also copy & paste 'Szczęsny' into Google Translate and it'll pronounce it for you. It's difficult to describe how to pronounce a sound that doesn't exist in any other language ('ę') and also the random combination of letters SZCZ. Laughing

We do have a really difficult language when it comes to pronounciation, grammar and everything Laughing English is ultra easy in comparison.

It's a bit like the French sound ɛ̃, isn't it, like at the end of 'Amiens', or 'rien'

In the context of it all, we won an away match by two goals and a clean sheet, despite losing Ronaldo 30 minutes in... that’s a big result for us and we will not have a tougher test in this group. It’s not that United won’t be a test but you won’t expect a Juve red card 30 minutes in, this is a freak event that changes the face of the match drastically and we showed great resiliency, which usually isn’t the case for us in the Champions League

That's pretty close, yeah, in separation it does sound like that, varies a little depending on the context though. You know your stuff Hans.

I'm not a linguistics expert but in English Ę = [ɛɰ̃].

In separation, Ę does sound like the end of French 'amiens'.

However, as I said, depending on the context it often sounds more like a regular 'e' or the French "è".

In "Szczęsny", I'd say it's closer to the sound Hans mentioned ('ɛ̃') but again it's a sound exclusive for polish and these French sounds are close but never quite the same, naturally.

Parejo misses a penalty. There is only one team in this universe that goofy faced twat turns up to.

You're better at pronouncing English words though I bet. We struggle with voicing since in our language, for instance, 'kod' and 'kot' are basically pronounced exactly the same which would never be the case in English, would it.

Homophones also exist in English of course:

By, bye and Buy
Eye, I
Hear, here

etc...

It's not the same, it's about the word-final voicing.

These are also common names in Poland: Jan (John) and Dawid (Dave, David), it's not always that complicated.

Most people have easier surnames like Nowak (Novak) and Kowalski (Kovalsky).

At least we pronounce things as we see them! For example, in English, the E's in Mercedes are all pronounced a different way whereas in Polish all E's are always proununced the same way. hmm

Pogbito the guy who dominates young boys Proud Curious to see what he performs vs grown men (Juve)... most probably he will do nothing.

On paper Juve and Man Utd should advance, but the results vs Valencia are crucial. They are relevant enough to grapple some points, we avoid it yesterday.
