yes when defending, god forbid fullbacks are actually in position when defending.Nishankly wrote:Mr Nick09 wrote:they are not playing with 3 at the back though lolNishankly wrote:
He's getting chance to be so tight on Salah only because its a 3 CB backline, I'd expect him to be destroyed if it was 2 CBs. That said, he's doing well to ensure Salah receives the ball with his back towards the goal.
They do while defending.
how do they call it again, a back four? is that the word?

Gomez has been really good.

But if you ask me Clyne deserves a start at RB.
Yes, he does. Alexander Arnold shaky as hell, once again.

Thankfully, depth is much better, but you should still have bought Fekir for goals
Salah has been playing great in the last couple games apart from scoring, still scored 3 in the league. Literally has the best stats in the league apart from the goals. I'm sure the goals aill come
Not true. Salah has been unfortunate and poor. Really, really poor today.
In his current state, he should not be starting but, as it's clearly affecting his head, it's tricky as benching him might make it worse once he gets the chance again; and there's no doubt Liverpool need an in-form Salah more than most anything.

They are playing with a back 3. Maksimovic, Albiol and Koulibaly are all playing CB. Rui and Callejon are wing backs tonight

Maksimovic is not crossing the Half line, he is a CB replacing Hysaj so he's rarely ever venturing forward, which is why Koubaliy can stay that far wide out with Salah, they've got one for each on Salah, Firmino and Mane. Callejon has no support from any full back on that side which makes me question his role as a winger.
Do you watch games or just look at line ups?

For years Liverpool have been all attack with a poor defence and at last we end up with a good back 4 and keeper and look to be strong at the back. Then guess what happens the complete front 3 turn shit over night and can’t score in a brothal. Liverpool are the most frustrating club in the world.

Yep^
It neutralized both Liverpool and Napoli. Callejon is alone on the right and Rui isn't threatening enough by himself.

@Hans
I didn't say he was good today, the whole team looks poor today. Meant in recent games. Did you see the Chelsea game for example, literally everything was going through Salah. He is creating chances for others and finds himself in chances but he is missing a lot of easy chances that's why I said everything is good this season from him apart from finishing. Last season in the beginning he also missed a ton of sitters and then just started banging. I don't expect last season's numbers from him but I'm sure he will still pu in a respectable number for a winger.

It's because Ancelotti knows hw dangerous Mané and Robertson are when attacking, and how futile it is to try create stuff against Robertson.
Smart Liverpool opponents always try to attack via the Trent Alexander Arnold/Salah side

Yeh, Gomez is a great bĂ ll-playing CB imo.
Arnold is shaky indeed, Clyne is great on defensive side of the game.

Even if he is not venturing forward, he is still stretched on the right having to deal with Mane. and Liverpool have purposely trying to stretch the pitch with their fullback.Nishankly wrote:Mr Nick09 wrote:yes when defending, god forbid fullbacks are actually in position when defending.Nishankly wrote:

You have to give credit where credit is due because Koulibaly is doing a great job marking out Salah, who is a bit poor today, and it's not because of a 3 man defense.

It totally neutralized the wings but weirdly enough he handicapped the middle too. I don't understand Fabian over Zielinski if the CM are gonna be the main outlet. Mertens should come on soon as well.

Lower back. Fingers crossed it isn't as bad as it looked like and was just a spasm because the timeline on anything else in the lower back is almost always 1-1.5 months.

Re: Champions League 2018/19 | Group C
We've always struggled against 3 man CB's even in the PL, and almost always those games end in draws as the opponents sacrifice their attack to achieve a point or fail to do a smash & grab. This game looks similar till now but didn't expect this from Napoli
Anyways their tactics are working

Their tactics are working well and they are controlling the game but it might not be enough, can see this staying 0-0 and Napoli needs the points.

Liverpool's central defense is performing really well. Van Dijk is beasting, Gomez great too.
Arnold is poor, Wijnaldum is poor, the whole midfield pretty weak
