To put into perspective, The West Indies Cricket team brings various Nations together and we support that team with all we have. When it boils down to regional cricket, I support my own and my own alone. So, there is nothing wrong with being patriotic but that's on a National level. This is club level. If I ever see Firenze support Liverpool, he is dead to me but I saw him support his Nation (England?) because of National pride to which I honestly appreciate.

I honestly won't understand why an Inter fan would ever support Juve. They ridicule the club and its fans constantly and as far as I am aware, Inter is an Italian team.

Inter is the team that I under no circumstances can support. But like I said earlier, I watch matches with other Juventus fans who do. It's no so hard to understand that there are different ways to view these things and that breva isn't an Alien, or all that uncommon.

The other teams it depends of the circumstance and the opponents. I'll prefer any of the others beating Madrid or Barca. It's partly because none of them are legitimate rivals to Juve at this point, little threat in Roma, Lazio or Milan outside of single matches. Back in the middle 2000s I always hoped Milan would lose.

As non-italian i can only be an "artificial" fan which is a bias in my evaluation of rivals. Artificial is different from fake that's what i mean.

Genuinely never liked Inter, club of whiners, never took them on Fifa etc. Mostly because i started to follow club football during the period Inter was winning 4 scudettis in a row and won a treble.

Wasn't specifically committed to a club back then as i would just consume the most possible games on whatever stream i could find. Already had a soft spot for Juve because of Buffon, and as a teenager i tend to like the underdogs which was Juve's status in those years. As i became a man i started to love champions instead and the new Juve built by Marotta showed me the way. So my personal rivalry with Inter starts from there.

For the rest, i've always appreciated Roma, Samp, Fiorentina. Even AC Milan i don't truly have problems with them IRL, simply started to feud with Dante and ES in summer 2017. But i dislike Inter, Napoli and Lazio.

#1. Erm, so what was the original thread title??? scratch

#2. Some genuinely interesting posts in the thread. Thumbs up

#3. It's barely a Civil 'War'. Poor Breva taking murderous bashing from Arq and Robese.

#4. My two cents!!! Club supporters never support their rivals at whatever stage. Forget MU, I feel gleeful if Spurs, City takes a battering even if it has no consequences what so ever.

It is.

It was born just because Breva was going on "off topic" in Mourinho thread saying nonsense things and the off topic discussion obliged to shift posts on another thread . But for me it was enough to put this on Calcio thread, not need to create a thread for It. Not relevant matter but just to take away that stuff from Mou/ Man United thread

I feel like I only noticed a rise of this "We support all Italian teams in Europe" back when Serie A had only 3 CL places and were competing for a 4th spot in the coefficients table.

But yeah for the most part most fans hate their rivals and don't want them winning any titles and that's how it should be ffs. US/Italian fans seem to be the exception though.

Let me know when you have concluded the list of commonplaces

Clearly you haven't idea what is " Campanilismo" in Italy

I live in Tuscany, all our towns have campanili. And, I am quite aware, since I was a child that "e' meglio un morto in casa che un Pisano all'uscio".

Let me know when you translate "luoghi comuni" to "stereotypes" or "cliches". Ma dai, continua con le tue bischerate.
