Red Devils co-owner Avram Glazer is in the Middle East as speculation regarding a possible change of ownership at Old Trafford continues to rage.
Manchester United executives have met with officials in Saudi Arabia against a backdrop of speculation suggesting that the club could be the subject of a £4 billion ($5.1bn) takeover bid.
It has been suggested that the ruling Salman family are looking to acquire the Red Devils in a stunning big-money deal.
Money from the Middle East has already flooded into European football, with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain among those benefitting from sizeable investments.
Sheikh Mansour, a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family, has helped to deliver Premier League title success at the Etihad Stadium, while Qatar Sports Investment have made PSG a heavyweight player in the global game.
United are reported to be the latest target for a change in ownership, with the Glazer family currently at the Old Trafford helm.
Takeover talk has intensified since it was revealed that co-owner Avram Glazer had travelled to Saudi Arabia.
Rumours quickly circulated regarding the reasons for that trip, with discussions regarding a possible sale being mooted.
The Glazers have offered no indication that they are looking to part with their controlling stake at United, but it was suggested that they may be willing to part with some of their shares.
No such talks are being held at present, though, with takeover talk having been curbed by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF).
They have confirmed that Avram Glazer is merely in the country to attend the Misk Global Forum being held in Riyadh.
He boasts a close relationship with the Saudi government and has attended a number of conferences in the region of late.
“The president Qusai Alfwaz met Manchester United CEO and the Managing Director and talked about a lot of topics, about the cooperation between the club and the federation and how to improve that,” read a statement released by the SAFF.
While no sale has been discussed with the Salmans as yet, it appears as though the speculation regarding talks is set to rumble on.
The Glazers have struggled to attract support from United fans throughout their time at the helm, with questions asked of their motives for acquiring the club.
A process which started in 2003 when Malcolm Glazer purchased his first stake and ended when a £800m ($1bn) purchase was completed in 2005.

Witness it turn into profound optimism when they win a TREBLE of matches, over the course of an entire league season, and with Pogba producing greater assist numbers than the likes of De Bruyne and Eriksen.. in an entire week.

Speaking of which, why isn't United owned by its members? They have a large fanbase, their brand is strong enough to generate a lot of money and they have history. They really don't need an owner to help them attract or sign expensive players.

Just take Dybala and Pjanic from your feeder club, you'll be alright afterwards.

Just an assumption, but I think some people wouldn't take that joke so lightly on here.

Sounds to me like you're the one bringing some kind of grievance into this, not non existing 'some people'

It's not really a complaint. Just saying, you won't see that kind of humor on here. Too edgy

It's not edgy, Saudi Arabia is the land of terrorists. I'd say it's more of a statement of fact rather than an attempt at humor lol

Not really. Their government is openly supporting the US in everything the latter does, including invading a middle-eastern country under false pretenses and completely and irreversibly destabilizing the entire region, whereas their people are completely oblivious to their own surroundings and solely concerned by materialistic needs.
People, especially Americans, don't want to admit to this, but their brutal, terrorist, imperialist foreign policy is the very reason the middle-east is fucked up beyond repair and the number of radicalized people is at an all-time high.
If you take a closer look at the nationalities of the men who have joined ISIS ever since its inception, you'll notice that the countries with the most number are not from the country you claim to be "the land of terrorists" but rather from places where they have been directly or indirectly affected by the US foreign policy.
Remember, don't place the biggest chunk of your blame on the puppet. The real culprit is usually the one pulling the strings; the puppeteer. And it's no surprise that the US is one of history's biggest, genocidal war machines.

Doubt that they could cough up the 2+ thousand million pounds for a 50% stake so that's why they don't. It's why Germany has the 50+1 rule because how are local fans or official members supposed to compete against corporate investment?

You just described why they're considering breaking off to form the super league.

He doesn’t do stepovers, but when he has to perform, he performs. He does what the game asks him to do.”"
