Schalke have been awful this year. Would be surprised if they score a goal.Hapless_Hans wrote:Laughable

They never score goals and they surely won't start vs City.
However I'm not too sure Tedesco will be Schalke manager by then. It's ridiculous he's still in the job now, mind you.
But even then, Schalke is shit, surely the poorest team left in the competition.

This is going to be embarrassing, how Schalke managed to reach this point is beyond me.

Pep has a well documented history of flopping in CL ties he's expected to dominate. I still think City will win because the gap is just too big but it will be closer than some are suggesting.

Does he? Genuinely can't think of many he's actually lost.
Meh performances when you still win are completely irrelevant tbh.

Tedesco's team is a husk of the impressive team it was last year though no one mentions some key players being sold as well. Typical of Tönnies and his management. The team is just bereft of ideas this season and running on fumes by now.
Easy result for Man City.

State of the Premier League man
Schalke are sitting 14th in the Bundesliga fighting not to get relegated.

said it in chat, but in a year where the usual heavyweights are in a notable decline, the PL teams still manage to be a level below, ffs. unreal.
imagine trailing to a Bentaleb double in 2019

Pep doesn't know how to defend. He only think keeping possession is defending!! no other way to defend. His team is not wining UCL until he learns it.

Re: Round of 16 - Schalke vs Manchester City
You know, I have a theory that the teams who win the CL nowadays often end up having a few mishaps at the beginning of the season and then peak at the end of the season. Additionally, their peaking at the second half of the season coincides with a change of system.
2014: Early struggles with Carlo he then switches to his hybrid 4-4-2/4-3-3 with Di Maria playing as a CM
2015: Early struggles with Lucho who almost got sacked for fighting with Messi...Messi ends up moving to RW and Barca form their gala 11 with MSN up front and Rakitic doing the donkey work behind Leo
2016: Benitez gets sacked...Zidane fields Casemiro as a DM
2017: Not too sure if Madrid had a bad first half of the season I don't really remember. Either way, Isco becomes a starter and Madrid starts playing a 4-3-1-2.
2018: Madrid were bad in the first half of the season and then peaked in the second half of the season. Not much of a change on the tactical level, but experienced some amazing luck on the way.
City have screwed up a fair bit this season and Pep is still tryna find his big game 11. My only doubts with City come with their mentality. Now even though they beat Liverpool and made a comeback today (games they would have lost last season), you would still never see Madrid or Barca concede the way City did today.
Conceding 2 penalties and getting a red card in a first leg at home lol. If you want to win the CL that just can't happen. Unless Sterling's last-minute goal suddenly changed the mentality of the team then I really can't see City getting past another big team in the CL, let alone win it.

Re: Round of 16 - Schalke vs Manchester City
Mentality is pretty low on the list of concerns tbh.
What would be a concern is Pep trying to put De Bruyne and both Silva's in the team at the cost of defensive structure like he did with Barca with Thiago, Xavi, Iniesta and Cesc.
That's a surefire way of getting yourself knocked out, they're lucky they were facing Schalke.

Re: Round of 16 - Schalke vs Manchester City
Manchester City: Ederson - Danilo, Walker, Laporte, Zinchenko - Gündogan - Silva, Silva - Sterling, Aguero, Sane
FC Schalke: Fährmann - Bruma, Stambouli, Sane, Oczipka - Serdar, Bentaleb - Embolo, McKennie Konoplyanka - Burgstaller
Amazingly, Schalke STILL have not fired Tedesco. So, how much are they going to ship tonght? 5,6,7? Seeing that this is Pep in CL panic mode, I'll go conservative and say 5-1
